It's not much of a drop. Delaware's racing ain't much, and their shippers are hardly ever competitive at the Big Boy tracks.

It's another "slots welfare for average horses" racetrack, IMO. Equivalent to PARX.

Nah. Same - same.

Both are decent enough places for the local horsemen to run, and for horses that can't cut in in NY anymore, but other than their "One Big Day", not much on national importance going on at either place.

(Some of those same things could be said about AP and Hawthorne, I suppose...and 20 - 30 other 2nd and 3rd-tier tracks.)

parx-delaware-penn national-presque isle downs are all in the same boat. ny horses go there because as you said cant run against the competition in ny but they also go to get there confidence level back and if they win then they go back to ny and see if they can compete against tough company or not. it's kind of similar out here in southern california that if they can't win here they send them up to northern california for the same reason.
