Laverne Hanover won the Battle of Saratoga in 59.4 for Bill Haughton on June 24, 1968. He won 22 of 23 at two, 21 of 28 at three and retired with a lifetime record of 98-61-11-8. He won the Jug, Adios and Tattersalls and earned about $870,000.
Adios Butler went the fastest mile ever—1.54.3—in a TT at The Red Mile on Oct 4, 1960. He retired as the WR holder on mile and half-mile tracks.
Artsplace was a supplemental entry in the 1991 Messenger Stakes. He drew post nine, was parked throughout and finished ninth. Die Laughing won.
Real Artist was purchased by Jules Siegel of Fashion Farms at Harrisburg in 1996. He started the bidding at $100,000 and everyone else sat on their hands. Real Artist, who won the Wilson, earned about $425,000. He is the sire of Dali, Real Nice, Kikikatie, Southwind Lynx, Fire On The Water, Ginger And Fred and Fred And Ginger.
