The minds at Hawthorne have cooked up what, IMO, is an excellent concept for a handicapping contest.  They call it the "Young Turk Open" and it favors those 35 and under -- but it doesn't live others out.

While designed to attract the younger player, but it is not only for those 35 and under.  The event is an "Open" event which means all are welcome, but they are extending free entry to anyone between 18 & 35.  Anyone under 35 gets free admission and a program coupon, $10 in F&B certificates, a free Thoroughbred Times, plus participation in the contest.  Those over 36 can still get in, however, with the standard $20 entry fee.

I think it's an excellent idea, which can help to get young people out to the track, but not totally disregard other patrons at the same time!

Best,
EW

Management is FINALLY spending some $$ on marketing. Is it an expense before the year ends aka writeoff, or a valiant attempt to drum up the next generation?

Is the Red Sea finally parting?

I'd like to suggest that Hawthorne may be violating federal and state laws prohibiting age discrimination.
