When the betting closed for the Hollywood Park finale on July 15, there were THREE horses in the race (14 horse field) that were 150-1 or higher. I dont ever remember seeing any race of any sized field where three runners were 150-1 or higher.

I'm sure this has happened in the history of horse racing, but i don't ever remember seeing it.

I think something like this just goes to show you that there is very  little 'casual' money in the betting pools, its the sharks vs the sharks when it comes to betting in So Cal, the guppies have went away.

Whoa!  I have never seen this.  Except there were a couple once at one of the south American tracks.  The odds said 99-1 but they were higher.  Did the board actually have those odds there?

The odds of the 3 horses were 149-1, 165-1, and 222-1.

Yikes. May want to find a softer spot.

I rounded the 149.80-1 shot up to 150-1.

Pam, i dont remember a race where there three horses above 100-1 much less 150-1. Im not sure what that means, you would think that many of the 'computer syndicates' would stick 17 dollars on all these runners because the 'computer says so' but no, the computer gave them 0% chance to win so the whale money never got onto their backs. They also probably didnt have 'cute' names where the little old lady from pasadena decided to stick her 2 bucks on them either.  poor baby

That made me crack up.  That's just the criteria the women who come with their husbands on big race days.  They bring their knitting, their creepy women's magazines and once and a while look at a program and find a "cute name."   Then they bet two bucks to show. And get SO excited when they win.

I feel guilty not being happy for them. But they scream so.
