Today in Las Vegas starts WSOP Event #55 Texas Hold'em.
It's the first year for this event.
The buy-in is 1 million dollars to play the game. Most of the big names of the poker world will be playing. It will be interesting to see how many players ponied up a million and what the winners share will be.

UPDATE: 48 entries   18 million for 1st----- 10 million for 2nd

is that the customary 10% juice for the entry fee or is that out of the prize pool?

Thanks for the heads up. Tuning in. Only cause Helmuth is in it  beer beer beer

ESPN is such a crappy network ( s ). It really is almost as bad as Mtv now.
That I didn't know about this at all.

Its sad. I used to watch ESPN all the time. But their biases and hyperbole and crap got to be too much.
I want baseball its MLB network. NLF is NFL network etc etc.

I haven't watched in forever.

Go Phil!

Only thing missing is Tony G. the only player I like more than Phil.

Not so much a pick. As hes my favorite here.

Phil Steamrolls the first hand!

And its not really live its on some type of a few minute delay.

Cant see the hole cards though and to me that makes it more fun than seeing them.

i like it like this too. rast goes all in guy mucks, then espn shows the hole cards. 9,9  vs  A Q   15 min delay

Norman Chad not quite as witty without a writer.

I hope everyone knows that all the tape delay replays the announcers are added well after the actual action.

hand by hand is boring as hell to watch from a hospital room as I did that last year, but with that said, if you want to learn about the ins and outs of tournament poker, it's great stuff.
