Jim has been hot at Hawthorne!!!!!!

I don't know if this is a "slip of the pen", but if Jim Miller is smart he's somewhere other than Hawthorne -- they are being CHEAP AS HELL with the A/C there.

Been in there a couple times this week, both times started feeling nauseous after about 20 minutes and got the hell out...has to be well over 80 degrees in the plant. No way I can defend Hawthorne on this one.

Maybe Jim has A/C in his office?

HV, I think you've said before that you're boycotting AP, but at least their AC works very well. Come on over to the cool side. :-)

Jim Miller is the good guy face of Hawthorne. If something happens that would in any way diminish his stature or reputation, the Arlington huggers will jump all over it and ride it hard for as many news cycles as possible. It's a political battle here in Illinois, between the Duchossois empire and all who stand in the way of his goal of total monopoly, and any incidents get blown entirely out of proportion just like regular political nonsense.

Have any other tracks GM's ever been touts? I'm just curious.

why is everyone concerned?
so what if he has a side job ro make a lil extra money

if you got a part time job selling your picks---whywould you have to justify it to everyone

not anybodys bizz

just sayin

I have no problem with someone trying to make some extra scratch. Good for him. But why sell the picks if they're good enough to make a profit ... for himself? There's the extra cash right there.  dunno

Totally unnecessary to even worry about such questions if you just accept the simplest explanation, the one Jim gave in the other thread, "I was asked to promote racing and this has taken a turn that I do not agree with", and that his name as well as Hawthorne's and TVG's is being improperly used.

Of course, lots of guys would rather believe and promote something more mysterious, convoluted, and elaborate than that, as is usually the case with anything at all about horse racing, and that's their right ...

Which is why I say this is all a plot by someone associated with Arlington to smear Jim's good name and embarrass Hawthorne.  trophy

Why can't Jim just walk away from this if it's not what he thought it was going to be?

No kidding.  I agree with Terry.  Jim had the courtesy to come on the forum and tell us what was going on.  And he has a job and a boss to answer to.  Let it be.  I'm sorry I started this thread.  I guess I was just so shocked to get it in the mail here in California.

It's very possible that Jim, Hawthorne, or both are planning a lawsuit and have been advised not to discuss the issue publicly. It's also possible that he's being shady, but it's a big conclusion to jump to. Not everyone is required to answer questions about themselves on a message board.

I believe he said that's what he WAS going to do. In and of itself that apparently does not stop the slime behind this venture (the one associated with AP IMHO) from using his name.

I guess he doesn't have enough to do at HAW and wants to make a few bucks in his spare time.

I'll allow that's your personal opinion about it, but my opinion is the real truth of the matter is exactly what Jim posted about it.

I am going to call you out on this one.  Let's see your proof that Arlington was involved in this problem.  I believe that Jim got taken advantage of by somebody and that somebody was not Arlington.

Certain veteran members of this forum don't need proof when making accusations. As long as they think they are right,
thats enough to give them carte blanche. You're not expecting proof are you?   dunno

The posters who have implied or strongly suggested AP is behind a smear campaign of JM have lost all credibility with me. I believe JM was probably a naive victim in this affair, but I also believe AP had nothing to do with this and to suggest so with no facts is irresponsible.

You both need to go re-read Terry's posts on the matter for tone and tenor, and then go look up the definition for the expression, "tongue-in-cheek".

Don, you are so busy jumping to conclusions that I'm surprised that you don't have a perpetual double hammy pull.

I can read sarcasm and tongue in cheek with the best of them, but not on this one. And I do hate it when that is used
as an easy get out to ignorant comments. It's lazy and alittle too convenient for my tastes.  Thanks, but the hammies are
fine, but the ass hurts a little after today's races.  Shocked

Yeah, just like you read "Andy Beyer" and think it says "Andy Serling"...then blew it on the re-read, too.

Sorry, no sale. Terry and I go at it like a couple of snarling junkyard dogs at times, so he'd probably rather have someone else pointing this out, but I'm telling you he's pulling your leg, and everyone else's, on the "AP is trying to ruin Jim Miller's reputation" thing.

You got snookered, that's all. You'll get over it.

Sorry HV. I don't buy your lame explanation after re-reading threads like the above.

Old Terry was serious on this one.  I know when he is baiting or spoiling for an argument.  He was slinging manure from the mountaintops in this thread.

Hey junkyard dog, I guess Im not the only one who supposedly got snookered, huh? Or are you planning on addressing
every member of this forum individually who sees through your transparent b.s?  You get over it. Your cookies and milk
are waiting.     BSmeter

What is "lame" is you guys skipping to a latter post of your choosing (where Terry is merely keeping the charade alive), and skipping the initial post of his that gave it all away:

Arlington is the root of all evil in Illinois racing. They MUST have something to do with this travesty.  Grin

If you can't figure it out, fine -- it will just go down as one of Terry's finest hoodwinks, a prank pulled on a couple of True Believers.

I'll make some popcorn and watch while you fellows keep sputtering and insisting that Terry is serious.  laughing guy
