It seems worse than usual. Last evening I was told that for one or more of the Cubs-Sox games at Wrigley, they were advertising "good seats" still available through the box office on game day. That it totally unheard of. In fact, if the box scores are any indication, none of the 3 was a sellout. These indicates to me that they stink so much more than usual that Cubs fans are staying away from their own team in droves.

Yes and also the cards are world champs and are playing good ball which isn't helping them

I think they have a realistic chance of losing 100
But I'm ok with that

As a Cubs fan I grew tired of Hendry chasing down high priced free agents that brought diminished skills to the team.
Although Hendry did acquire a few guys such as Garza and Dempster.

I'm not saying Epstein or Hoyer are saviors but I'm willing to give them some time and see their approach on how to win, and how to put together a nucleus of players to at least compete.

Truly. It's a division with the worst team in baseball in it.

I think they will end up okay.

Whoa Nellie you are correct, San Diego seems to have snuck into a 1/2 game lead over the Cubs in the stinkiest most useless team in all Major League baseball department! My error.

Cardinals are not better.  They started hot and have cooled off considerably.  They've had injuries like most teams but can't use Carpenter as an excuse because Lynn took his spot and has been their best pitcher by far.  The bullpen is atrocious but as mentioned, the division is terrible and as the Cardinals proved last year, if you can sneak in the playoffs anything can happen.

True.  And now, they're in a hitting slump.

Well, they hammered the Royals 11-4 (i think) which isn't too surprising.  I wouldn't write them off yet.

The white sox are also in a bit of a slump and lost to MIL . The Cubs trail ARI in the 7th.

the cubs are on track to be one of the worst teams in modern times.

less than 40 wins will seal that title..worst team of the modern era.

at 24 and 48 that s almost half the season, putting them on pace roughly for 50 wins if they stay a consistent team playing on the chicago park districts playfield they still call  wrigley field. as i understand it they pimp the grass surface for any old event to maximize profit, and the baseball team is just another tenant, instead of THE tenant and the reason for the grass field in the first place. this wouldn't have happened in the golden era when wrigley was in charge.

anyhow 48 and 114 isn't all that bad..

imagine all that prime real estate them kids can buy,
once they move back to boston.

The brilliance of that observation would be borne out by my total lack of posts here the last two days.

Nice comeback by the Sox last night against the Yankees...can't help but love a team that never quits, never says die.

Only thing that marred it was the Hawk, a-hootin' and a-hollerin' like a 5 year old when the Sox took the lead in the top of the 9th; thank goodness my remote comes with a "Hush Hawk" (selective mute) button.

The only real problem yesterday was that the Cubs didn't play and therefore didn't lose, leaving Sox fans with nothing to cheer about on the day.

Actually, the Sox game itself WAS something to cheer about, and Cubs fans got something to cheer about as well, as their team didn't lose.

A TRUE Sox fan isn't happy unless the Sox win AND the Cubs lose -- this is why the WS win was so bittersweet for Sox fans: it wasn't quite right. Something was missing.

and Cubs fans got something to cheer about as well, as their team didn't lose

Cubs fans were too drunk yesterday to notice, or care...same as any other day.
