Maywood Park - Race Card Analysis
Friday, June 15, 2012
(Program odds in parentheses)

RACE 1
3 - SHARK WAVES (5/2) *** Winner: $5.80  $2.80  $2.20; 3-5 Exacta: $17.20; 3-5-1 Tri: $26.60 ***
Returns from HOP where he held his own against tougher. Raced very well here earlier. Can power past these.

5 - SWEEET TALKIN TOM (9/5)
Drops back to the level he dominated two starts back. Horse is razor sharp. Early move likely.

1 - KB'S ROBBY & 1a - GAR (4/1)
Both parts of the entry are in very good form. ROBBY will seek the lead and can be tough to catch. GAR was an impressive winner last time he raced on this oval. Should flush live cover and can make his presence felt.

2 - MASTER JEEVES (8/1)
Romped on a softer bunch last time out. Tougher test here. Slight chance at minor award.

6 - GEORGE'S ZTAM (8/1)
Did not have much of a chance from the eight post last time out. Could be a factor with better striking position.

4 - ALLAMERICAN BOMBER (12/1)
Form appears to be tailing off. Needs more to compete with these.

7 - OLIVER BROWN (15/1)
Showed brief speed in a needed race last week at BMP. Let's give him another start.

RACE 2
1 - ANNIVERSARY PARTY (7/2)
Comes to Maywood after wiring a field at DCTR. Have much respect for hot trainer/driver Gillespie. Will be tough to catch.

6 - JASPER LABROOK (7/5)
Solid second last week to Delco Rocknroll, who won last night. Could seek lead or two hole. Strong contender here.

4 - DON'T DARE DIS DOG (15/1)
Simmons trainee comes in after a rather slow race at DCTR. Has hit the board in four of six lifetime starts. Might find a way to sneak a share.

3 - BETRUETOYOURCODE (9/2)
Was not too far off in his debut on 6/1. Won a qualifier on 6/7. Figures to build off those efforts and rates with these.

2 - FRONTIER TROUBLE (10/1)
Has not hit the board in eight lifetime starts. Toss.

7 - BALTHASAR HANOVER (12/1)
Never threatened in his debut last week. Need to see something positive before rating any higher.

8 - DONTEVENMESSWITHME (8/1)
Having trouble keeping up with cheaper at BMP. Longshot from way out here.

5 - BORDO BAY (20/1)
Far back last time out. Winless in 18 starts. Toss.

RACE 3
7 - KEITHER (9/2)
Looks the best of a struggling lot. Been chasing around better and has not been far off. Could power past these.

1 - LOOK TO KILOWATT (3/1)
Rail should keep this one in contention throughout. Long overdue.

4 - MY SECRET WEAPON (8/1)
Has not been all that close lately, but the switch to Oosting could help wake this guy up.

3 - PALMER (7/2)
Makes debut for new barn. Been taking on better. Might see a more inspired effort for tonight's new driver.

6 - KB'S GOINGCOMMANDO (6/1)
Can show speed at times, but has not come close to holding off a field. Might hang on for a minor award.

9 - GLASGOW GAMER (15/1)
Sheds the eight post and will likely have better striking position here. Can share with the right trip.

5 - JUST US (10/1)
Has not been close in a while. Pass for now.

2 - CAPTAIN RICE (12/1)
Finished far back in last two. Hard to like.

8 - INDIAN RIDGE ZAK (12/1)
Form is dismal. Post does not help.

RACE 4
4 - LENNOX BLUE CHIP (9/5)  *** Winner: $3.20  $2.60  $2.10 ***
Was an absolute monster last week. Parked out and pulled away, winning in 1:52.3. If he can bring another effort like last week, he should not have much trouble here.

3 - NASH GRAM (5/2)
Broke at the start and rallied late to get up for third. Moves inside and if he can stay flat, should be in the mix. Contender to round out the exacta.

2 - TURN IT UP LOUD (8/1)
Handled a softer field last week. Takes on a tougher, but should be in contention throughout. Can share.

1 - LAZY LIZARD (4/1)
Claimed last time out after beating easier. Takes on a couple rough ones in here, but Oosting and the rail are a lethal combo. Hard to rule out.

6 - DADE HALL (12/1)
Flew late to blow up the tote board last time out. Will need another sizzling pace to close into. Difficult, not impossible.

5 - MR ROCKFORD (6/1)
Chased a tough group last week at HOP. Making third start after layoff. Shows speed. Might hang around for a slice.

7 - PICASSOS BOY (15/1)
Seems a little overmatched at this level. Needs a fast pace to close into. Outsider.

RACE 5
1 - UNCLE SMOOTHIE (9/5)  *** Winner: $3.20  $2.40  $2.10 ***
Rail gives this guy the edge here. Talented horse could try and wire them or take the pocket trip and pounce in the lane. Either way, this one is a major contender here.

5 - CRIME OF PASSION (8/5)
Main threat to the above. Comes into this after a big win at BMP in the Cardinal. The 1-5 exacta box looks tough to beat.

4 - PEACHYS PISTOL (6/1)
Crushed a soft field last week at SPR. Held his own with this kind last year and nearly banked 100K in winnings. Can show speed and can be part of this.

6 - FOX VALLEY MAHALO (9/2)
Handled easier at BMP last week. Has held his own this year. Could try follow up the #5 and hope for the best.

2 - YANKEE DOODLE JIM (12/1)
Has hit the board in each of his five starts this year. Looks a bit overmatched against these, but should have good position and could possibly sneak a share.

3 - FOX VALLEY GEORGE (8/1)
Has had a hard time keeping up with this caliber of horse. Pass for now.

RACE 6
6 - TALK FOREVER (9/2)
Came out ready after the layoff and toyed with the field last time out. 12-year-old knows how to win races and rates highly once again.

3 - MIKE LANIGAN (3/1)
Comes into this razor sharp. Is inside of the other speed. Could get to the top and be difficult to catch.

1 - SENSATIONAL BB (7/2)
Made a bold move last time and narrowly missed. Should have good position from here. Won the last time he had the rail.

2 - REAL DESIRABLE (8/1)
Was used early and still came on late last week. Another effort like that could find this guy in the money.

4 - SNILLOC FIVE (12/1)
Was bothered last week and wound up getting placed fifth. Likes to be on or near the top. Will likely blast and take his chances. Can make things interesting if he clears.

5 - HANNIBAL HUDSON (10/1)
Tossed hints in last few. Can be a big factor with live cover.

7 - TROIX HANOVER (15/1)
Always shows good early speed, but has not held off a field in some time. At best, he hangs around for a minor award.

8 - ABSOLOM (6/1)
Last two at BMP were on the dull side. Hard to like from way out here.

9 - CRIPPLECREEK FOX (15/1)
Parked to a slow half before throwing it in reverse. Needs a much bigger effort to threaten.

RACE 7
6 - NJ'S BIG DEAL (2/1)  *** Winner: $4.80  $2.80  $2.20; 6-2 Exacta: $13.40; 6-2-1 Tri: $34.40 ***
Always seem to get a great effort from this guy. Figures to blast to the top and with one easy quarter, he will be very tough to collar.

2 - AL'S HAMMERED (3/1)
Looks to be the main contender to the above. Having a terrific season. Might have to come first over. Hard to rule out.

1 - URAWOMANIZER (6/1)
Excuses in last two at BMP. Should sit right behind the speed here and try to race up the open-stretch.

7 - WESTERN COLE (8/1)
Won impressively in 1:52.3 last week at BMP. Likes to show speed. Might try for an early spot and hope for the best.

3 - SMOOTH TRANSITION (10/1)
Was parked the mile last week and just missed beating an easier field. Looks a bit overmatched. Will need his best.

4 - KING'S LEGEND (7/2)
Encountered road trouble in the Cardinal last time out. Previous form was decent. Will need a big effort to share with these.

5 - M T NESTER (12/1)
Returns to this oval after racing at BMP and HOP. Won the last time he raced here, but that was against a much easier field. Will need to bring his "A" game against these.

RACE 8
1 - M M WEST (3/1) *** Winner:  $8.80  $3.00  $4.20; 1-2 Exacta: $11.80 ***
Always a factor at this level. Rail makes him extremely tough to beat.

2 - RIO'S Z TAM (5/2)
Has finished first or second in each of his five starts since joining Warren barn. Should have lead or two hole.

6 - BAUER'S Z TAM (4/1)
Makes debut for Peacock barn after a resounding win at BMP. Rates very highly with these. Dangerous with cover.

5 - DARN SKIPPIE (8/1)
Last two rather dull. Does get close sometimes and gets Oosting here. Might wake up to grab a minor award.

7 - LA CABANA (8/1)
Crushed an easier field last week. Will not get such an easy lead from here.

8 - FOX VALLEY SEE YA (15/1)
Struggled with the eight post last time out. See no reason for a drastic turnaround.

9 - OUR SECOND CHANCE (12/1)
Winless in 15 starts this year. Form looks rather dull. Pass for now.

4 - KB'S TAYLOR (10/1)
Last five have been poor. Needs to do more to contend with these.

3 - BEN'S JD (15/1)
Has not been close in weeks. Pass.

RACE 9
1 - FOX VALLEY HERMIA (5/2)
Her speed and rail worked to perfection last week. Figuring the same formula will work again.

5 - SLEAZY DOES IT (3/1)
Nearly reeled in the top pick last week. Did not have the easiest of trips. With cover, this one has a great shot to turn the tables on the #1.

7 - PARTY HANGOVER (7/2)
Used hard early last week and nearly held on for the win. Might try for a good early spot or flush cover. Either way, this one looks like she has some ability and will make presence felt.

2 - MOMENT OF MAGIC (6/1)
Will likely try to sit behind the #1.  Should get a nice trip and can possibly sneak into the tri.

6 - HOSTESS LISA (12/1)
Having a solid year in her own right. Likes to show speed and will be in the mix.

8 - MELODIE HOTSPUR (8/1)
Mowed them down late and pulled off the upset last week. Tough spot from out here, but she did prove capable. Needs hot pace to close into. Not impossible.

3 - THROUGH MY EYES (12/1)
Cruised along the inside and finished third last week. Will probably try same tactics and hope to grab a minor award.

4 - KENDYL (15/1)
Has yet to find her best stride this year. Will need to put it all together to be part of this.

RACE 10
7 - NO GIN (6/1)        *** Winner:  $11.80  $6.60  $4.60 ***
Used a perfect trip to get up in time last week. Might have to work a little harder from here, but with a bunch of speed in here, this race could set up for him again.

1 - GUTS N GLORY (3/1)
Had everything his own way and still could not hold off the #7 last week. Should be in the mix again from here.

2 - FOX VALLEY TOCCOA (7/2)
Changed tactics last week and made a nice move to finish third. From here, this guy will probably seek lead or two hole. Will be in contention.

3 - AMERICAN LEASE (10/1)
Crushed an easier field from the eight post last week. Could be trouble if he gets to the top again.

5 - SENTIMENTALJOURNEY (9/2)
Was a front-stepping winner last week. With other speed in here, he will have to work much harder to reach top. Might try to flush cover. Hard to dismiss.

9 - ZELLER'S ISLAND (8/1)
Racing very well lately. Made a move last week before flattening out. Should have better striking position from here and could be a part of this with clear sailing.

6 - SHASKA (15/1)
Has not been far off with these. Can share if he can follow up live over.

8 - RICH N SPORTY (12/1)
Draws poorly once again. Long shot to threaten from here.

4 - STONEBRIDGE SYMBOL (15/1)
Gets close at times, but has not won in a long time. Looks like a tough group. Pass.

RACE 11
3 - DARETODOGREATHINGS (5/2)  *** Winner:  $5.00  $3.40  $2.40 ***
Makes third start after a layoff. Appears to be rounding into form as he finished a close third last week. Looks like a soft group here. Could be all set for a winning effort.

2 - KING Z TAM (10/1)
Makes third start back after a layoff. Shuffled back last week. Might try for pocket trip and looks like a major contender here.

1 - NATURAL LAD N (6/1)
Struggles to win. Rail helps cause. Might hang around for a slice.

4 - PRIME ESCAPE (2/1)
Never in position last week from the outside last week. Should be more involved this week.

7 - FIVE COUGARS A (9/2)
Speedball will likely try for the top. Can be tough if left alone.

8 - LARRY'S PLACE (15/1)
Recent form rather dull. Tough task from here.

5 - THE MASCOT (10/1)
Takes on much tougher for new barn. Has not raced in over a month. Let's watch one.

6 - SECURED RISK (20/1)
Showed a little something last week racing without cover. Still, it looks like he needs at least one more race to shake the rust off.

RACE 12
1 - SIGN THE PRENUP (7/2)  *** Winner:  $3.20  $2.40  $2.10 ***
Speed, rail and Oosting sound like a winning formula. Will be tough to beat.

5 - KAYDON BEGONE (3/1)
Takes on easier this week, but is hard to like after how he faded late in last two. Might be in soft enough to win, but there are red flags here.

4 - POLAR BEAR (8/1)
Blasted from the eight post and led much of the way last week. Could get top or two hole in much better shape here. Can hang on for a part of this.

7 - ANESCAPE N (9/2)
Keeps trying hard for the overdue win. Fits with these. With live outer flow, he should be a factor yet again.

9 - BROOKLYN FLIGHT (15/1)
Gained some ground late last week in his first start for new trainer. No surprise to see him build off that effort and possibly hit the ticket.

3 - SLEAZY MR E (6/1)
Got up in the final yards to knock off easier last week. Will need more to knock off these.

8 - JHS (15/1)
Makes third start back and tossed hints last week. Still, this is a tough spot. Needs some luck from here.

2 - FOX VALLEY LIBERO (10/1)
Tough trip took its toll last week. With a better voyage, he can contend. One of several that can get there if the trip goes their way.

6 - PAPA BRIAN (12/1)
Broke and lost all chance last week. Previous races were on the dull side. Pass for now.

RACE 13
7 - AT MAX SPEED (5/2)
Raced well the past two weeks against a couple rugged foes. Looks like a much easier field here. Should power past these.

1 - SAMEASITEVERWAS (6/1)
Perhaps driver change to Warren from Hiteman can ignite the spark here. Has the talent to beat these if right.

3 - MAKE IT WORK (3/1)
Was a complete no-show from the eight post last week. If we toss that one out, he looks like a good fit.

4 - RIVER OF FAITH (8/1)
Winless on the year in 17 tries. Last two races were not horrible. Might find a way to hit the ticket.

5 - NDIZANI A (7/2)
Winless in 14 tries this year. Might use his good speed to get control. Could hang around for a slice.

6 - MR PROSPECT (15/1)
Has not won in ages. Was not close in recent HOP races. Hard to make argument for.

8 - DONALD HIMSELF (12/1)
Winless in 20 starts this year. Recent races rather dull. Longshot from out here.

2 - WESTERN DEAL (10/1)
Has not been close in any of his ten races this year. Toss.

RACE 14
4 - LITTLE MORE RAM (3/1)  *** Winner:  $10.20  $4.60  $2.20 ***
Parked the mile from the eight post last time out. Should get an easier trip here. Strong contender.

9 - SPIRITUAL KING N (7/2)
Can never seem to carve out a trip that is not brutal. Sure fits at this level and if he can find cover, could power past these.

2 - SAND JAKE (8/1)
Made a move last week before flattening out. Gets Oosting tonight and looks dangerous in this spot.

8 - GO TUFFY (9/2)
Road trouble cost him in last. Making third start back after layoff. Despite post, this guy looks like a contender.

6 - AMERICAN GOLD (6/1)
Drops in class after doing next to nothing in a needed race at BMP. Need to see a little something before rating any higher.

3 - JOSTING JACK (12/1)
Went a tough trip last week and was placed third. Looks like a good fit with these. Will need racing room, but can come on the scene late.

1 - HE'S BUCKS BEST (10/1)
Rail might help cause, but recent form is dismal.

5 - ROLS ROYCE MINDALE (15/1)
Winless in 16 starts this year. Has not been close lately. Toss.

7 - WHATSHOULDIDO (15/1)
Has not won in ages. Has not been very close lately. Toss.
