Maywood Park - Race Card Analysis
Friday, June 1, 2012
(Program odds in parentheses)

RACE 1
1 - HEARTLAND LIBERTY (5/2)
Raced well in debut last week. Closed ground into a fast second half. Moves from eight post to rail. Should build off last race and be in much better position here. Does not have much to beat.

2 - BUTCH O'HARE (3/1)
Came up just short last week against BMP claimers. Should be in striking range from here.

5 - BETRUETOYOURCODE (6/1)
Makes first lifetime start for McCaffrey barn. Might need a start. Watch tote.

3 - BONEIRE'S BONANZA (4/1)
Makes 2012 debut. Lightly raced, but did hit the board in three of four races last year. Fits if ready.

7 - SALLY MOTO (12/1)
Tossed a little hint last week as she closed some ground late. Still needs to do more from here.

4 - ROCK RIVNDEL (8/1)
Winless in 50 starts. Shows speed at times. Might hang around for minor award.

8 - FRONTIER SCOUT (15/1)
Winless in 13 starts. Sometimes gets close, but this is a tough spot.

6 - NEVER EXHAUSTABLE (15/1)
Has not been remotely close in six races this year. Toss.

RACE 2
8 - MYSTICAL BROTHERS (4/1)
Had a winning debut last week, getting up just in time. Post is a concern, but he could have the talent to overcome the obstacle. Will string along.

7 - ANOTHER BEAUTY (5/2)
Just missed last time out. Been holding his own against tougher. Strong contender against these. Like the 7/8 exacta box.

2 - FLIP (3/1)
Broke last week and was never a factor. Wants the lead and if he can mind his manners, will be tough to collar.

1 - HUGGY BEAR (8/1)
Pushed back last time and lost all chance. Rail and return of Warren help cause. Will be in the mix.

3 - HE'S A GOLD DIGGER (6/1)
Another that can show speed. Finished second to a runaway winner last time out. Can hang around for a share.

5 - DAN LOWE (10/1)
Bothered last time out, but still raced well to finish third. Gimmick possibility.

4 - STEUBEN PAPALE (12/1)
Did not show much in debut last time out. Need to see more.

6 - FOX VALLEY CADBURY (15/1)
Was not close in 2012 debut. Needs to improve.

RACE 3
5 - GAR (3/1)  ***Winner:  $3.00  $2.20  $2.10***
Dominated this kind last week. See no reason to pick against.

6 - WES MANTOOTH (7/2)
Faced tougher last week. Much better fit at this level. Could follow up the #5 and make a move late.

8 - FOX VALLEY SEE YA (10/1)
Went a big mile last week against Gar. Tough post, but could find some live cover and be a factor once again.

7 - RIO'S Z TAM (9/2)
Racing very well for Warren barn. Will have a tough time getting lead from out here. Cannot completely dismiss.

9 - JUST THE WAY ITIS (6/1)
Never in position last time out. Should be in the mix from here. Wins his share at this level. Can get a piece of this.

1 - THE JANITOR (8/1)
Sheds the eight post for the rail. Can hang around for a share.

2 - DARN SKIPPIE (12/1)
Made a bold move last week before flattening out. Switch to Miller could be key. Gimmick possibility.

4 - BEN'S JD (15/1)
Faces easier but rarely wins. Might sneak a share on the drop.

3 - OUR SECOND CHANCE (15/1)
Showed a little speed last week before tiring. Needs more to contend.

RACE 4
7 - FOX VALLEY DOMINO (3/1)  ***Winner:  $5.40  $3.80  $2.80; Exacta: $16.00***
Had some trouble staying flat last time out. There does not appear to be much speed in this race. He has shown early foot and if he can get to the top, he could cruise to the wire.

4 - FRESHMAN PHENONOM (2/1)
Makes third start of the year. If he can get a rolling a little sooner, he has a great shot at these.

2 - CJ'S REAL DEAL (9/2)
Set a super slow pace and had enough in the tank to secure his first lifetime win last week. Figures to try for the lead again. Might have to work a little harder, but is in form and has to be considered a contender in here.

5 - PARK'S FINALE (12/1)
Looks like he's had excuses in last three. Driver change to Warren could be the remedy. No surprise to see him get a share.

1 - GYPSY LEATHER (8/1)
Rail helps cause. Has not been too far off. Can hang around for a slice.

3 - FOUR STROKE (15/1)
Makes 2012 debut. Was not close at all in two qualifiers. Let's give him a race.

6 - MIDWEST CONNECTION (15/1)
Finished way back the last time he raced here. Pass.

8 - FIRST FLIGHT IN (10/1)
Did not make much of an impact last week. Needs to do much more. Pass.

RACE 5
5 - HANNIBAL HUDSON (4/1)
Tough trips last two races. With the lack of speed in here, this guy might be able to get to the top, or sit in the pocket. Either way, he's a solid contender against this bunch.

8 - LITTLE MORE RAM (6/1)
Sharp winner last time out. Has tough task from out here, but he looks quick enough to get a good early spot. Should be part of this.

3 - TALK FOREVER (2/1)
Last raced in February. Qualifier was okay at BMP. 12-year-old has won his share of races. Threat if he does not need the start.

1 - SPORTS SCOOTER (3/1)
Rail should keep him in the mix. Has not been far off in recent races. Does not win often.

2 - PALMER (8/1)
Never was in position last time out. Needs to do more.

6 - ROLS ROYCE MINDALE (12/1)
Hits the board at times. Rarely wins.

4 - WHATSHOULDIDO (15/1)
Has not won in eons. Has not been close in a while. Pass.

7 - CRIPPLECREEK FOX (15/1)
Has not hit the board in nine tries this year. Pass.

RACE 6
4 - SLEAZY DOES IT (3/1)
Ships in from BMP off three solid tries. Cranked a big second half last time out and almost caught the leader that set an incredibly slow pace that night. Does show some speed in her lines and might try for the top or two hole. Classy sort will be tough to beat.

8 - NO RESPECT (6/1)
Classy one set a slow pace and prevailed at BMP last time out. Will have to work hard for the lead from here. Tough task, but this one is capable.

3 - LAUREN (4/1)
Powered past softer last week at BMP. Looks like a contender here if she can avoid a first over journey.

7 - MAKIN' A STATEMENT (5/2)
Will blast for the top and can be rugged on the front. Will be put to the test from this spot. Can hang on for a piece.

1 - TAMARAC SASSY (12/1)
Should benefit from the rail draw and can linger around for a minor award.

6 - NOTJUSTAPRETTYFACE (12/1)
Has hit the board in five straight. Can share again with the right trip.

5 - FINAL ATTRIBUTE (8/1)
Went a big mile last week to beat easier. In good form, but appears overmatched here.

2 - JOKERSLITLWHITELIE (15/1)
Makes third start of the year. Tossed a little hint last time, but will need to drastically improve to pull this off. Pass for now.

RACE 7
9 - MY BOY LUKE (5/2)
Likely needed his last race. Should find better position from this spot. Faces a very suspect group.

5 - DARETODOGREATHINGS (7/2)
Has not raced since January. Might need a race, but he can be right there if ready to roll.

2 - KING Z TAM (6/1)
Has not raced since January. Won his qualifier over the #3 by a head. One of many question marks in here. Can compete if ready.

8 - INCREDIBLE ITEM (20/1)
Gets close at times, but is in a tough spot from out here. Might be good enough to get a slice of this.

3 - INDESCRIBABLE (4/1)
Has not raced since 4/13. Qualified well, but has not won in ages. Shows some speed. Might hang on for a share.

1 - RIVER OF FAITH (8/1)
Having trouble staying on stride. Can compete if he minds his manners. Another question mark.

6 - LARRY'S PLACE (15/1)
Having trouble staying with eight claimers. Toss.

7 - BELL VALLEY BILL (12/1)
Recent form is dull. Tough task from out here. Needs to do more.

4 - FROSTONPUNKIN (15/1)
Has not come close to hitting the board this year. Toss.

RACE 8
2 - SEEKIN FOR GLAMOUR (5/2)  ***Winner:  $3.40  $2.60  $2.40***
Took on tougher at HOP last week. Was a convincing winner last time she was on this oval. Trainer Affrunti red-hot. Should power past these.

3 - TILLYFILLY (3/1)
Was a runaway winner last week. Will set the pace again and be in the mix throughout.

7 - CAMILLE ROSE (10/1)
Won by a nose last time out. Needs to flush some live cover to have any chance. Not completely out of this.

8 - DAZZLING DIANA (12/1)
Parked the mile two weeks in a row, now draws the eight post. Does get Oosting. Can't help but get an easier trip. No surprise to see her get a piece of the tri.

1 - DELIGHTFUL DOT (8/1)
Winless on the year, but rail might keep her in contention. Could hang in there for minor spoils.

4 - ANITA HAMMER (4/1)
Made a move only flatten out last week at BMP. Another Affrunti charge cannot be ruled out.

5 - PICKAPLACETOPARK (6/1)
Gets close but rarely wins. Can share with the right trip.

6 - WINDY CITY DIANE (15/1)
Can show a little speed, but has been tiring badly. Needs to do more.

RACE 9
4 - LAZY LIZARD (5/2)  ***Winner:  $2.80  $2.40  $2.10; Exacta:  $19.80***
Was tons the best against this kind last week. Should make an early move and crush another field.

7 - SHARK WAVES (8/1)
Second best to the above last week. Was parked the mile and can't help but get an easier trip here. Not sure if he can completely turn the tables on the Lizard, but should be a little closer at the finish.

5 - ZELLER'S ISLAND (10/1)
Flew late to just miss last week. Can get a piece of this with another late rush.

6 - KB'S ROBBY (4/1)
Speedball will come out winging. Was not able to hang with the Lizard last week. Could carve out a two hole trip and hold on for a share.

3 - MR ROCKFORD (6/1)
Yonkers invader making first start of the year. Did not do anything in qualifier. Has class and can be a contender if ready. Oosting chose him over the #5.

2 - CELEBRITY BEST (12/1)
Been facing tougher at HOP. Raced very well here earlier in the meet. Should have good position and can be part of this at a price.

8 - GEORGE'S ZTAM (15/1)
Facing a tough challenge from out here. Might leave and hope for the best. Long shot to be part of this.

1 - SLEAZY MR E (3/1)
Last three on the dismal side. Needs to do more.

RACE 10
4 - SMOOTH TRANSITION (2/1)  ***Winner:  $3.20  $2.20  $2.20***
Tough trip in a start he figured to need. Parked much of the way and still finished second. Should improve off that effort and could get to the top from here. Will be tough to catch.

1 - PECK BLUE CHIP (7/2)
Not exactly sure what happened last week as he finished last from the rail. Willing to give Seekman benefit of the doubt. Should seek two hole trip and if he brings his late punch, he could roll by these in the lane.

7 - AT MAX SPEED (8/1)
Oosting chose this guy over the #4, so that makes me look a little closer. Was a solid second to Delco Willobee last time out. Might show speed and can contend in here with the right trip.

5 - SECURED RISK (15/1)
Not a bad race, his first in years, last week. Figures to build off that effort and can be more of a contender this time. Still, he probably needs another race before we see his best.

9 - NDIZANI A (10/1)
Gets close at times, but rarely wins. Will likely use inside position and try for a seam late.

6 - BEAU JET (9/2)
Made a move last time out against cheaper. Roberts barn has done well with class hikers. Might seek early spot and could possibly capture a minor award.

8 - MARIE'S JATE (20/1)
Made up some ground in the stretch last week in a needed start. Still need to see more before rating any higher.

2 - SAMEASITEVERWAS (12/1)
Judges scratch last time. Prior form was not too hot. Something is not right with this guy. Passing until we see some progress.

3 - JHS (15/1)
Has not raced since January. So-so qualifier. Giving him a race.

RACE 11
4 - KAYDON BEGONE (5/2)
Been going back and forth between here and BMP. Has chased some rugged foes in recent weeks. In a better spot here. Might be able to flush cover and brush past these.

1 - COLEFEDERATE (3/1)
Is in peak form. Wired an easier field last week in impressive fashion. Will be on or near the lead from here and is a strong contender to take this.

5 - VOOMERANG (4/1)
Been taking on tougher at BMP and HOP over the past month. Was a nice winner last time he raced here. Should be in the mix.

3 - RAGING CAM (6/1)
Made another big move last week and finished third to a tough winner. Almost always is a factor. Oosting chose #1 instead.

6 - ICE MAN COMET'H (8/1)
Speedball figures to be part of the early pace. Lost to the top choice last time they squared off. Looking at a tough trip here.

2 - DADE HALL (15/1)
Flew home in 27 flat last week to finish fourth. Could be reasonably close to the fray and if the fractions are out of control, this guy could pick up pieces late. Gimmick possibility.

8 - NASH GRAM (12/1)
Ships in from HOP. Been holding his own against 10-12 claimers. Has hit the board in 10 of 14 starts, but will need a big effort from way out here. Wants lead, hard to see him getting it.

7 - LEE AVE (10/1)
Been showing speed out at BMP. Might add spice to the early battle. Long shot from this spot.

RACE 12
6 - JUDSON DIRECTOR (12/1)
Went first over last week against tougher. Takes on easier and was victorious the last time he raced at this level. Looks like a lack of speed in here. This guy does show some early foot. Might blast and try and wire these. Price could be right.

1 - PICASSOS BOY (7/2)
Raced evenly against tougher in last. Takes on easier here and draws the rail. Does not win often.  Should sit right behind the speed and try to pounce in the lane.

9 - MORGAN SHARK (3/1)
BMP shipper looks like a good fit. Making third start off layoff for the Seekman barn. Figures to have good position and will be a major factor here.

3 - TURN IT UP LOUD (8/1)
Sheds the eight hole and takes on easier. Won the last time he was in this cheap. Not sure of tactics. Might have to come first over, but does rate with these.

4 - FOX VALLEY LIBERO (9/2)
Finished second to the Colefederate last week. Likely won't get the same easy trip here. Roberts chose #1 over him.

8 - POLAR BEAR (6/1)
Managed to hang on against cheaper last week. Will need his best to overcome this post.

7 - FINN JET (15/1)
In a tough spot from out here. Was not far off when he raced here earlier. Could hit the ticket if things go his way.

2 - BRING THE RAIN (10/1)
Winless in 16 tries this year. Recent form looks dull. Toss.

5 - INNOVATION (15/1)
Last two races were dull. Might be overmatched in here.

RACE 13
5 - FOX VALLEY TOCCOA (5/2)
Was involved in a sizzling speed duel last week before tiring. There does not appear to be as much speed in this race. Should have control and have much more in the tank turning for home.

8 - RICH N SPORTY (8/1)
Finished a fast closing third last week in his debut for the Affrunti stable. Could improve off the effort and, with striking position, can be part of this.

7 - NO GIN (6/1)
In peak form. Beat many of these same horses last week. Certainly rates again. Must use.

6 - SHASKA (4/1)
Was right there with No Gin last week and nearly pulled off another upset. Odds likely won't be as big tonight. In form and can be right there with the right trip.

3 - GUTS N GLORY (10/1)
Finally sheds the eight hole. Has been coming on late. Could be sitting closer to the leaders this time and his late move could get him in the money.

1 - MAJOR WORRIES (3/1)
Got caught in a switch last week against these and wound up far back. Needs better luck, but rail can keep him in the mix.

4 - SPORTY LEVI (15/1)
Rather dull effort last week against these. Needs to do more.

2 - PARK BUG (12/1)
Dull effort last time out. Needs to bring more to the table.

RACE 14
5 - SPIRITUAL KING N (3/1)
Finally sheds the eight hole. Been turning in some monster miles. If he can work out any kind of decent trip, he should handle these.

4 - MIKE LANIGAN (7/2)
Another that encountered a tough trip last time out. Wants the lead. May get it and be tough to catch. Major contender.

1 - HE'S BUCKS BEST (9/2)
Broke at the start and lost all chance last time out. Won the last time he drew the rail. Should be in the mix.

6 - SNILLOC FIVE (8/1)
Used the open stretch to beat an easier group last time out. Will likely blast for the top. Might hang around for a slice.

7 - KEITHER (6/1)
Recent form is dismal. Switch to Roberts could help. Outsider.

8 - SENSATIONAL BB (12/1)
Took advantage of a nice trip to beat these last time out. Will have to work for it this time. Tough but not impossible.

9 - JOSTING JACK (15/1)
Parked out and wound up far back last time. Rarely wins, but does come close at times. No shock if he finds a way into the High Five.

3 - P H BREAKAWAY (12/1)
Invades from out east. Has not been doing too well and has not won a race in ages. Will watch him for now.

2 - SIXXPAK (15/1)
Has not been close in his last couple. Toss.

Locks:
HEARTLAND LIBERTY (1st race) - Finished second
GAR (3rd race) - Winner:  $3.00  $2.20  $2.10
LAZY LIZARD (9th race) - Winner:  $2.80  $2.40  $2.10

Bombers:
JUDSON DIRECTOR (12th race) - Finished second
