Michael Baze's mother was sueing his estranged wife Kelly for funeral costs....after she received $250k in life insurance $$$ (his wife received $750k).

Sad story....I know he rode at Monmouth at one time.

Yes, I watched it today also. The mom got 250k left and the wife was left
750k. The mom won 850.00 dollars which was just sad to watch. I don't understand
why go on television to air your dirty laundry.

I was thinking the same thing....did not put two and two together until they mentioned Hollywood Park and then it all came together - Califorinia, Washington, Kentucky.

She was actually sueing for $5k, which still raises your eyebrows when you hear how much life insurance they received.

Well....wife would have been legally resposible for those costs and not the mother in that  he was an adult.  She got 75% of the life ins. proceeds so you would think they would have split it 75/25..How did a 5k funeral, pretty cheap, by today's standards, come out to $850 for the plaintiff ??
By the way, I hate Judge Judy.  Pompous, arrogant, lack of judicial temperment ... head shake head shake head shake

There was no funeral - two memorial services, one at Hollywood Park and one in the mother's home state. He was cremated and the $850 was the cost for that. The mother's $5k included the cost of the memorial service she held, along with her travel costs for her and her other son to fly back and forth to KY to settle his estate. The wife did claim that she was present when payment was made for cremation and that it was paid for with money reclaimed by police from the body.
