Shortly before the 3rd race on Saturday night, one looked up to see a horse warming up in the infield. At first, a guess was the horse was either in distress or had broken equipment. Not so. For some reason, driver Kim Vincent and trotter Montchanin spent several minutes seemingly intentionally warming up on the grass before returning to the track. Never seen that before.

With Boo Frickity Hoo's win in the 5th race on Saturday night, horses leaving from post position 8 now have a higher 2012 win percentage than those from post position 1. Never seen that before.

The primary condition of the 8th race on Saturday night was for 8 years and UP who are non-winners of $401 (not $4,000) in their last 4 starts and who are non-winners of $801 (not $8,001) this year. Never seen that before.

Tony Morgan had his first 2 drives of the RcR meet on Saturday night, picking up a win in the 5th race and a 3rd in the 8th race for purse winnings of $1,420, earning $71. Never seen that before.

No offense intended--but Rosecroft is a signal that is barely (if at all)recognized by the betting/simulcast world

so oddities that happen there are only noticed by about a dozen folks or so because basically nobody cares

sorry--my comments were not intended to be caustic

By my count, exactly 7 people noticed that a horse was warming up in the infield.

Those 7 people are betting 140,000 + at tonight's product.

But then you geniuses think the signal isn't picked up anywhere and there is 18,000 spread over 11 races.

Carry on.

It is always the same morons though. I appreciate consistency.

I think the signal is picked up about ONCE a week in Illinois (OTB's) (and somewhat sporadic on which day of the week).

Several people have returned from the accident scene on the backstretch and they all have said they do NOT believe this is a life threatening injury.

Good to hear Croft. Thanks for the update. And Rosecroft did something unusual and in my opinion correct. they ruled the race a non event and refunded the bets. Most of the time the tracks are too cheap to do this when it is actually the right thing to do.

Rumor had been spreading that the rest of the races would be cancelled.

So it can only be viewed as a positive that post time for the 6th has just been posted for 9:57.

That was ugly in the 5th.
Hope everyone involved is OK.
If one likes to bet Rosecroft, that's great.
But let's not get too excited over a $140k handle for 11 races.
You can still tilt the win pools with a $100 win ticket...

Very likely a career night last evening for Kimothy, with a drive in each of the 11 races and 4 wins - if one includes the No Contest.

While I wouldn't wager my entire 401K on it, I would wager a significant chunk of it that 5/22/2012 was his best night ever driving at Rosecroft.

Just as Kim Vincent As Elite Driver personifies the astonishing collapse of Rosecroft, so does Broadwalk Bully.

Broadwalk Bully was an 0-35 5-yr maiden who had never even finished 2nd a single time in his career. In his previous 9 starts in Delaware he averaged double digit length losses at an average price of 54-1.

Last week in his Rosecroft debut he went wire-to-wire at 8-5.

Last night in his Rosecroft encore he went wire-to-wire at 6-5.

I bet one race this year on a 3-1 shot put like 40wp and he went off 3/5 havent made a bet there since.

Yours is a typical and fairly common occurrence at RcR, due to the extremely tiny betting pools.

Last night, the first two races had win pools of $710 and $632.

Because most of the money comes in only at the very last moment, there is often only $100-$200 in the win pool with a minute or two to post.

So if your horse was 3-1 in a $200 win pool, there had only been $54 wagered on him - and with your $40 ticket you nearly doubled the total money bet on him, crushing his odds.

It's a classic Catch-22 : the miniscule betting pools keep away the serious horeseplayers but without serious horseplayers the betting pools are miniscule.
