No.  Take care and if you can make a profit quickly take it!

the first day of an IPO is absolutley the worst day to buy

if you wait until all the irrational exuberance dies down after a couple of weeks--you usually are better off

I tried to get shares on the IPO but was only offered 100 & that's if I agreed to have Ameritrade hold onto to quite a bit a cash for at least a year.

My intention was to get as much as possible at the IPO price ($34-38) & sell at the open, which is where I expect the it will trade wildly high - maybe $70, $80, $100+ as demand by novices will be very strong.  That's the absolute worst time to buy IMO as Coldpunch said.

I will not be buying on day 1, but lurking on the sidelines.  Here's my angle, i'm playing the Options game.

Most likely all the internet Facebook junkies with an Etrade, or any othe online trading account, are gonna want to get in on Facebook right away, what these novice traders don't realize, the only people/groups/corporations/hedge funds getting the $35 price are those with deals/contracts already in place.
You will probably see hedge fund managers jump the gun as well, pull money off the table on other good stocks, to get in nice on facebook, so watch for good stocks dropping on friday for no reason, you should buy those at the premium you are gonna get.

So back to IPO, the price should rise to $60 within an hour or so, and if not; by the middle of next week......it is at this time, hopefully they are even offering options on this symbol tomorrow, i will be buying put options at a $35-$45 strike range, which will be plummeting in value as the price of the stock keeps rising.

Eventually the hedgefunds/corporations, big money, that got in at the initial public offering are gonna dump and take a profit, and then thats when i will watch my account rise, if i'm right, I should be getting anywhere between 12-25 to one on my money.  If i'm wrong, then i dump myself and take the hit, but that is what is great about playing the options game, kinda like betting horses stocks are, when they are in the right class, fire away.

Tell me this.

how can I get it at 38?

Who gets it at 38 people who go in first?

How does it work? Who is going to buy it at 85 tomorrow?
If you can get it 38 at 9 am?

$38 is history - it's all been allocated & accounted for.  Discount brokers such as ETrade & Ameritrade did get a limited number of shares to sell to clients with at least $250k in their accounts & also trade 70+ trades a month.

Go ahead, attack the system but ultimately ask yourself, if you were CEO at ETrade if you wouldn't do small favors for your best clients.

I believe people will buy at $85 as they will have open orders to buy at the open.  That means they will buy at the highest price that any seller is asking, obviously a sucker's bet.  It is now being universally accepted that that's exactly what's going to happen, forcing me to rethink as "everyone" is usually wrong.

We'll see.  Remember what we all say after the 1-9 breaks & finishes 7th with $100k bet to show - "that's why they run the races".

I don't care I'm not buying.
I think its stupid for someone to buy it at 85 at noon when it was 38 3 hours before is all.

I don't understand any of this anyway was just thinking its odd that people will be lining up to pay 2 times as much as something was earlier.
But apparently it is not possible for me to buy it at 38 even if I wanted to. Soo I dont know really.

But hey god bless the  flag

Whatever condition the country is in I believe it is deserved.

And I have a bet on Obama in November with Clifton who is backing Romney.
Can we say 4 more years?

The stock is gonna go up, the question is how much and for how long?

When are the hedge fund managers gonna take their profits, at $80, $100, or maybe they let this thing run up to $160 a share then unload everything sometime next week, either way, its gonna go up, up, up.....then the profit taking is gonna happen, and its gonna go down, down, down.

I think it will settle in around $52-55 a share by the end of next week......or maybe keep on going and push $200.....

I just hope they have option calls and puts available on this sucker tomorrow, gonna be a wild day!!

Damn it.  Did you have to do that?  Clifton is the kiss of death.  Only hope I can have now is the "due factor".

Lots of hype  and a very few will make a lot of money.. All for stock of a company that a recent survey said was a fad.  80%..  No thank you.. I`ll stick with my XOM (bought 2 years ago @ $60 and collect the nice dividend...

Got in at $40.92

And its going to close the day at 38.02

What its initial IPO was.

This guy is amazing.
He would have found a way to lose money on Buster Douglas (betting on Douglas) vs Mike Tyson and the Jets (betting on the Jets) vs the Colts in super bowl 3.

Okay, truth be told; I just bought a few hundred 6 seconds before the close @38.10.  Underwriters have to keep it propped up at $38 - I think.

Closes at 38.23

How many shares did Tony lose $2.69 on?

This was also the worst week for the markiet in over a year.

Tony started working on Wall street in 2008.
Literally a month before the entire worlds markets and economies failed.

Get Tony to sell his so everyone can make money.
Tony is the super cooler.
If he had been betting in 1973 I firmly believe Secretariat would have lost the Belmont with one 2$ bet from him.

But look Dolfan I can get it at 38!
The system worked.

Id not touch though they are saying that without the underwriters might have closed at 33 today.

Its a legalized big brother system, first place law enforcement will look to if you are getting investigated for people to question.

Its also the new stomping grounds for criminal theft rings, hacking accounts, not for ssn, or bank account #s, they just want to know if you are not home so they can rob you while on vacation.

It gives you more superficial friendships, while weakening your current real friendships.

Privacy issue is the big one, and now that the company is public, gonna be more media about the subject, but you have to hand it the kid, he created an online forum thats about addicting as heroin for 900 million people.....call em Facebook junkies.  my wife is one of them, i don't know what would be worse, her catching me cheating, or taking the internet away from her.....
