Maywood Park Selections
Thursday, April 26, 2012
(Program odds in parentheses)

RACE 1
3 - HARRIET POTTER (9/5)
Returns from a game effort at BMP. Has had success here in the past. Should be on the lead. Solid chance to pick up her fourth win of the year.

2 - MS CAMRY (8/1)
Makes debut for new barn tonight. Sheds eight hole with move inside. Trainer/driver combo has worked well. Has a shot at her first win of the year.

5 - STEPH'S MELODY (3/1)
Was no match for Ronny B Good last week and finished a far back third as the public's choice. Will look to redeem herself and is a major contender in here.

4 - FOUR MAJOR TITLES (4/1)
Horse has been close on several occasions. Fits well at this level. Might have to go first over, but should be plenty good enough to hit the board.

6 - MIKAYLA'S ROCKETTE (12/1)
Encountered some road difficulty last week. Perhaps the trip will go her way tonight if she can follow up the #5. Doesn't seem to win much, but can hit the ticket with the right trip.

8 - SPYDER BITE (20/1)
Showed speed last week and tired. Draws poorly tonight, but does pick up top driver Oosting. If she can get an early lead, maybe she can last a little longer on the engine. Outsider.

1 - COLT HONOR (6/1)
Rail should keep her close throughout. Gimmick possibility.

7 - SHES ASTREOS (15/1)
Has not won in ages. Unlikely to end the losing skid from this tough post. Pass.

RACE 2
1 - CRUISE QUEEN (5/1)    *** Winner: $2.60  $2.10  $2.10 ***
Interesting one makes her 2012 debut for trainer William Mohr. Horse was staked as a two year old. Made a nice move in winning qualifier. Might be too good for these.

7 - BARBRA CAROL LYNN (4/1)
Raced a solid fourth on Saturday at BMP in a start she figured to need. Tough post, but she appears to have some speed and a good early spot can have her in contention. Consider.

2 - APRIA AMIE (20/1)
Back against other gals tonight. I don't think she's as bad as her last two races might indicate. Should get a much better trip tonight. Use in gimmicks for sure.

5 - SURE ANYTIME (3/1)
Lost to a couple monsters the last two weeks. Unless someone proves to be another monster, this one has to be strongly considered.

3 - ASK NO QUESTIONS (2/1)
Not exactly sure why the program has this one at 2/1. Must be the Oosting effect. She returns from BMP where she did not fare so well against claimers. If she couldn't beat claimers, I doubt she beats these. Maybe use underneath.

4 - BS SMOKIN ARIZONA (8/1)
0 for 55 lifetime. Going to be 0 for 56. Pass.

6 - WAR PIG (15/1)
Non factor in last several races. Toss.

8 - ROCK'N ME (12/1)
Has missed over a month. Hard to see her doing anything from out here.

RACE 3
4 - KB'S GOINGCOMMANDO (7/2)
Johnny Roberts should get this guy to the front. With an easy lead, he could be trouble for this bunch.

1 - RIO'S Z TAM (8/1)
Makes debut for Warren barn tonight. Rail helps cause. Recent races just so-so, but this could be a nice wake up spot.

2 - DARN SKIPPIE (5/2)
Post shift from the seven hole helps cause tonight. Not wild about him, but have to respect top driver.

9 - INDIAN RIDGE ZAK (4/1)
Raced pretty well here a couple weeks ago as he led all the way to the stretch before fading to fourth. All his other races look dismal. Maybe he can work a decent trip and be a factor. Outsider.

6 - JOANIES IRISH LUCK (12/1)
Been somewhat close lately. Would need to improve drastically to win, but might be good enough to hit the board.

8 - ROLS ROYCE MINDALE (15/1)
Had some road trouble last week with the rail. Doubt it gets any easier for him way out here. Pass tonight.

5 - J V'S BAD BOY (6/1)
Had to qualify after running some breaking issues. Looks to want the lead, but so do others in here. Just don't trust this guy. Pass.

3 - CAPTAIN RICE (15/1)
Has had some breaking issues. Can't trust.

7 - RANKING OFFICER (20/1)
Has not shown anything in weeks. Pass.

RACE 4
5 - FALL'S DELIGHT (8/5)
Big effort last week from the eight post against a tough winner. There are some question marks in here, but this one looks to have a big shot.

2 - MILTY'S GAL (6/1)
Ran into a couple buzz-saws the last two weeks. Does not like to win, but appears to be good enough for a slice. Gimmick possibility.

1 - VAGUE RESEMBLANCE (9/2)
Broke at the start of her last race and lost all chance. Looks like she has a touch of speed and the rail is a good place to be. If she stays flat, maybe.

7 - SPORTY BURBON (7/2)
Been close to an overdue win in last few. Tough task from here, but warrants consideration.

4 - CLAIRE DE LUNE (20/1)
Makes 2012 debut and gets top driver. Slow qualifier. Need to see any tote action before considering this one.

3 - INXPRESSIBLEBEAUTY (12/1)
Makes racing debut. Not much to go on. Slow qualifier. Watch tote for any clues.

6 - REPERTOIRE (10/1)
Has not been close. Pass.

8 - BLUERIDGE CHRISSY(15/1)
Has not been remotely close in ages. Pass.

RACE 5
1 - SWEEET TALKIN TOM (5/2)
Lots to like here. Top driver, draws the rail, faces much easier and the horse likes to win. Looks almost too good to be true...No price, but should be a good single for your pick 3.

2 - THE JANITOR (4/1)
Won handily last week against a weak bunch. Should sit right behind the #1 and is a strong candidate to round out the exacta.

6 - WILLIE THE KID (12/1)
Wild card horse makes 2012 debut. Driver Gillespie has been hot. Horse does own three lifetime wins here. Might be a live one to include in gimmicks.

5 - JUST THE WAY ITIS (2/1)
Ultra consistent sort will make his presence felt. Will likely make early move and has a great shot to hit the board for the seventh straight time.

3 - SPORTS SCOOTER (8/1)
Showed speed and tired in last. Will need more to pull off the upset.

4 - OUTGRAYGEOUS Z TAM (15/1)
Dismal recent form. Not likely to be heard from.

7 - FOX VALLEY SEE YA (20/1)
Wasn't close from the rail in last two. Hard to see him getting close from out here. Pass.

8 - LA CABANA (12/1)
Dull recent form. Tough post. Pass.

9 - SAMMOBRAND WILLOW (8/1)
Ran out of gas after tough trip in last. Will need more to contend tonight.

RACE 6
4 - NO RESPECT (5/2)   *** Winner: $4.00  $2.40  $2.40 ***
Raced very well in her 2012 debut over at BMP, finishing a close third against some rugged foes. Had a terrific two year old season and will be extremely tough to beat. Early move likely.

2 - KENDYL (4/1)
Finished a close up 7th in a her 2012 debut over at BMP. Had a very solid two year old season. Should be a big factor here.

9 - PARTY HANGOVER (30/1)
Returns from Yonkers tonight. Won here early in the year. Was a 10 time winner last year. Does not appear to quite measure up to these, but she does have an intriguing record. I think I'll throw her in some gimmicks for the heck of it.

5 - RICH N FANCY (3/1)
Has won three in a row in impressive fashion. Likes the lead, but will have to work for it from here. Certainly in top form, but will need her best to take down the top picks.

7 - MOMENT OF MAGIC (8/1)
Impressive win last week. But she has a tough task from out here. Other speed will make things difficult. Outsider tonight.

1 - TWENTY-ONE BELOW (12/1)
Rail will keep her close. Horse has hit the board in 6 of 10 lifetime tries. Might grab a slice.

3 - MELODIE HOTSPUR (20/1)
Raced well first over in her last. Has a couple tough ones to beat tonight. Longshot.

8 - FANCY CREEK IRIS (15/1)
Another one that had a very nice two year old campaign. Raced well in her 2012 debut last week. Tough post. Will likely leave and hope for the best. Pass for now.

6 - T E'S ZENYATTA (6/1)
Enters this off a so-so qualifier at BMP. Not seeing enough to make me want to bet her here. Pass for now.

RACE 7
4 - ZZZT (10/1)
Top driver chose this one over the #2. Sneaky good last time from the eight post. Horse does have seven wins on this track. If Oosting chose this one, so will I.

1 - MACKENZIE'S POWER (3/1)
Raced very well last week, nearly holding on for the victory. Rail helps her get an easier lead tonight and has a great shot to turn the tables on the #6.

6 - STAR GAZED (5/2)
Off back to back narrow victories. Almost always makes presence felt and has won 10 races at this track. Strong contender.

5 - FRONTIER LADY (8/1)
Barn/driver change for this gal. Recent form is dull, but perhaps change of scenery will help cause.

2 - MS KATE (6/1)
Flashed a move in last, but could not sustain bid. Loses Oosting hurts chances. Gimmick possibility.

3 - MADDISON PAIGE N (4/1)
Finished a distant second to a tough winner last week. Might need to go first over tonight.  I like others in here a little better.

7 - AMY ELLEN (12/1)
Has some early speed, but is facing a tough assignment from out here. Pass tonight.

8 - MARJAY DREAMS (15/1)
Recent form dismal. Would need miracle from way out here.

RACE 8
2 - NOTJUSTAPRETTYFACE (6/5)
Takes on easier tonight and picks up Oosting tonight. Will likely be the favorite. Looks the best of a struggling lot.

5 - CAM SUNDAY (8/1)
Had some pace at the end of the race last week, but has not won in forever. Cannot use on top, but maybe this one is on an uptick and can hit the board at nice odds.

3 - STARDOM BOUND (7/2)
Raced first over last week and battled throughout. Not sure of tactics tonight. If first over trip avoided, this one might get there.

4 - FOX VALLEY DINA (9/2)
Showed some early speed last week, but faded badly. Needs to show more.

6 - APACHE GLITTER (15/1)
Recent form is yawn inspiring. Needs to show more.

1 - CALISTA'S SHARK (8/1)
Will race from post three. Not sure it will matter as form has been off. Pass.

1a - STONEBRIDGE NUGGET (8/1)
Will race from post eight. Dull form. Toss.

7 - DASHING MAJORETTE (12/1)
Has not been competitive lately. Pass.

RACE 9
2 - PEYTON'S PINKY (5/2)
Raced gamely and picked up the win last week. Will be in the thick of things again. Has a big shot.

7 - FOX VALLEY LILAC (3/1)
Picked up an overdue victory last time out at BMP. Oosting will try for back to back wins with this one. Watch for early move. Strong contender if she takes to the track.

3 - FOX VALLEY KATRINA (6/1)
Made a nice move and led all the way to the stretch but could not hold off the #2. Likely to be part of the tri again this week.

6 - BABY HOLD ON (12/1)
Made a bid last week, but flattened out. Struggles to win. Maybe can be part of this with the right trip.

1 - TOWNE'S DARLIN (7/2)
Rail will help. Maybe a slice.

5 - LANGTREE LILY (8/1)
Has not won in ages. Gets close sometimes. Outside chance at a slice.

4 - NACHOORDINARYGIRL (15/1)
Did next to nothing in a needed race last time out. Hard to like until we see something.

8 - SPUNKY BABY (10/1)
Recent form is dull. Tough spot tonight.

RACE 10
4 - FINE ART MINDALE (5/2)
Liked this gal when she won for us a couple weeks back. Seekman barn is solid. Looks like this one has some talent. Will stick with her.

8 - MO VALLEY MAGGIE (6/1)
Really impressed me last week with her game effort in defeat to a classy winner. Will gun for the lead and will give the top pick a battle. Will be right there.

1 - BLUEBIRD REGAL (4/1)
Gets much needed post relief tonight. Should be position to contend. Use in gimmicks.

2 - RONNY B GOOD (8/1)
Steps up after crushing much easier in last. Gets Oosting, who has done very well with this gal in the past. Can't rule out.

3 - SEEKIN FOR GLAMOUR (10/1)
Gave a good account of herself against a tough winner in last. Can contend here with the right trip. I like the program odds and will surely include her in some gimmicks.

9 - LOOKER HOTSPUR (12/1)
Closed very well last week. Needs striking position to be a factor late. Outsider.

5 - FANCY TOO (15/1)
Everything went right for her last week when she pulled off the upset. Doubt that lightning will strike again. Pass tonight.

6 - FOX VALLEY SMOOCH (9/2)
Pulled off an upset in last at BMP. Will need to carve out a trip to pull off another shocker. I'll pass tonight.

7 - MOOCHIESMONEYMAKER (15/1)
Didn't have much last time out. Will need to bring A game to win from out here.

RACE 11
5 - TILLYFILLY (10/1)   *** Winner: $14.80  $5.00  $3.20 ***
Appeared to be full of pace with nowhere to go last week. Perhaps Roberts can put her in front tonight. Like her chances to pop at a price.

3 - SPORTAMANTE (2/1)
She popped for us at a great price last week. Has a solid chance at repeating. Will show speed and just has a couple other rivals to worry about.

2 - COLE STAR (5/2)
Encountered road trouble as the favorite in last. Horse has the driver and credentials to redeem herself. Might have to go first over and could be good enough.

1 - JANET ROSE (9/2)
Should be good enough for a share. Rail trip keeps her close.

6 - DELIGHTFUL DOT (8/1)
Shows a bunch of three wide moves in her lines, but has not been able to completely reel in a field in quite some time. Needs a hot pace and striking position. Outside shot.

8 - BUFFY THE SLAYER (15/1)
Has not been far off lately. Just not seeing enough in lines to suggest she can pull it off from out here.

4 - PICKAPLACETOPARK (15/1)
Dismal recent form. Not for me.

7 - WINDY CITY DIANE (12/1)
Recent form is dull. Tough spot tonight. Pass.

RACE 12
6 - CRAZY D COLE (8/1)
With the abundance of speed horses in here, this one might be in a good spot. Driver/trainer Gillespie has been on fire. Horse was a fast closing third last week. Longshot special.

9 - KB'S TK (10/1)
Solid effort to finish third against a tough winner in last. Gets Warren tonight and with good position, this is another one with a good chance to catch the speed and be a part of this.

1 - PLUM GROVE (6/1)
Ships in from BMP, where she was up close to some quick fractions before fading. Her speed and the rail make her interesting tonight.

2 - POWER AND PURPOSE (3/1)
Will come out gunning and has a great shot to take it all the way. Nearly held them off last week and will be tough to collar. Big shot.

4 - A PATCHY SUN (7/2)
Set the pace in her last as the favorite at BMP before fading. Another that prefers the lead. Will have to work for it. Has a shot if she avoids a parked out mile.

7 - JUST SHUTUP NDRIVE (12/1)
Ran into some road trouble last week. Does not like to win, but with a better trip, this one could be a part of this.

3 - DON'TMAKEMELAUGH (9/2)
Rather dull effort from the rail in last. Will need much more tonight.

5 - BUTCHIE LIL TAX (12/1)
Struggling to stay close lately. Pass.

8 - STARRS FLASHY BABE (15/1)
Could not get it done from the rail last week, so I have a hard time seeing her get there tonight. Pass.
