The Florida Supreme Court has ruled that Hialeah can indeed install slot machines, in essence sending a big
to Calder and its parent Churchill that were part of the effort to block them.
Slots and lots of 'em were a real wonderful thing for all the people and kids of Broward and Miami-Dade before Calder got them, little wonders that would cure all the ills of society and give every child a gold-plated education. At least that was the story before slots were actually approved and they were trying to convince voters, but just as soon as Calder got its, the mantra became, "Oh no, no no, more slots baaaaaad!".
