Denna Sattelberg wrote this story of her grandfather Ernie Sworthwood for the for the September 2004 Mi-HHA magazine. I had previously peppered the article with a couple of dozen content links, however my website is currently in the process of reactivation it's been necessary to remove the non-active links.

 The Sattelberg's have lost Lee's half-decade of harness racing equipment and tools (likely even his colors).
 If you enjoy this article, they are in dire need.

 They only had the one barn and it was used for storage as well.
So they lost all their equipment.

Don, I didn't ever see your initial request.   I cleaned it up now.

I hope for the best for these folks.   Is there some type of collection occurring for cash, equipment, etc?   If so please post the details.

     The fire took place on the morning of the Annual Mi-HHA Banquet.
The [/url=https://www.facebook.com/mi.harness.racing?_fb_noscript=1]Mi-HHa Facebook page[/url] reported that there was some fundraising at the banquet, however these banquets hold multiple 50-50's and other passing of the hat, so pickings may have been bare.

 There was also some type of notice placed on the horseman's board at Northville Downs.

 I'm not comfortable with placing anybody's phone and address in an open forum (I certainly would no list my own).
 Denna' 40-year best friend (Katie Beagle) provided all the details on a newspapers website forums that had multiple pics of burnt barn. (Sorry I didn't save the link)

 I've added some pics from other periodicals which were not online previously.

 I've more than 600 pages to update for this website and have begun adding some articles already. Many of the in-content (withing the articles) links will not function because those pages are not yet active.

The Dec 1975 Ken McCarr article on Emily Ellen is a good example (McCarr frequently wrote in mysteries and the reader did not realize his focuse until the articles end). I've added six other pics of Emily Ellen from other periodicals.

 The March 1973 HB's article on Ed Keller (with photo's from Ed Keys) was mostly focused on then recent pics of Mr. Keller and when he was older.
 My original scans of those 1973 pics resulted in terrible quality. In any event I've added seven pics from earlier periodicals, three of which are Hildy and Ed together.

 FWIW, nearly all these 1930s and 1940s Hoof Beats and Harness Horse magazines that I've been working on for some while, were originally owned by Ed Keller.
