Always had a good mix of horses in this series. I hope Burke doesn't have six entries out of the twelve entered.

He only has 1 but he is one of the top 2 and probably the best in Westwardho Hanover the other being Great Vintage.

On a side note, the stupid fricken 1-1/2 7500K claiming race is not on Friday's card Thank God  trophy

I honestly don't know why the Meads continues to write these stupid late closers... they are veritable chalk factories and time and again produce bad racing with well-nigh-unbeatable favorites.  Just another reminder that the game is basically being run for the owners and horsemen alone, and the bettor can go pound sand.

Yeah, the 1% of the owners and horsemen that is....most of us simple folks can't afford that.

I couldn't agree more, and I think it sucks.  I'd rather see more of the money going into claiming and low-conditioned races.  Burke already has a near-monopoly... why feed him more money?  The increasing stratification of the sport has done no one any good, save for the few outfits at the very top.

Instead they want to kill the cheap horses in a mile and a half race....why don't they write a 5 claimer and run them down that indoor ski slope next door?

Yep, another travesty.  Who does this help?  It's kind of an upraised middle finger to the bettors, since harness racing, unlike the t-breds, does not generally have races at 10 or 12f... little to no background for the bettors to go on (at least with American horses) save for mile races, or maybe the odd thing at Yonkers at 1 and 1/16ths.  Nor can one rely on breeding, as is helpful at the t-breds.

I support Gural, and am glad Bob Heyden is back, but otherwise they seem to have some real time-servers at the Meads.  Not good.
