Anyone else a fan of this horse?  Love the way he gets out of the gate.  I'm interested to see how he does in the Holy Bull on Sunday.

I will be the first to admit I wasn't impressed with his frist two Turfway park win's but he showed alot of Heart in the B C.Win.  He has a great shot in the Holly Bull , on a sad note only six three year olds to run for 400k , I hope he fairs better than Uncle Mo's 3yr old season Go Gray!

Huge OUCH. I singled him in my pick 5.  Now I'm out.  Oh well, it was pretty chalky so far anyway.  Still, I am TICKED.  Why do I listen to hype?!  He didn't have it at all.

Maker didn't teach this horse a thing during the layoff.

Couldn't rate a lick today, and then came home in :26 and change.   rat   (actually, rats close faster!)

NO Derby win for this guy...not with this trainer, anyway.

I didn't flip over from the Bulls game in time , was the stumble at the start that bad?

I've been saying this for awhile. I think the horse has been wrongly put on the Derby trail. IMO, he is best suited on polytrack or turf. Thinking if those poly performances from TP hold true, he can win the Blue Grass at Keeneland.

Let me give ya a Little Discreet Dancer! How can ya root for a horse that his arrogant owner names after himself?

To IOF:  I don't think the problem was not teaching him to rate.  He just didn't look fit enough.  He flat out stopped, which he didn't do last year in the BC Juvenile.  Maybe it was the track, though.  My impression of Maker is that he's a pretty good trainer, although I can't say I've really followed him closely.

To Chris:  Even after last year's BC, it would have been hard to call Hansen a legit Derby horse.  He was only second best that day (result aside--I'm talking about quality of performance considering trip and pace).  And I don't think he can get a mile and a quarter on any surface unless he's riding in a trailer.

To all:  Broadway's Alibi was better than either Hansen or Algorithms, at least today.  That performance was scary good.  (That kind of track can produce some strange results--but still.)

Excuse , don't count him out yet.

However,  the owner  don't impress me by putting the egomaniac  M.D. after his name.  I'll root for Mr. Bowling  , or the winner of the Arkansas Derby , or .......

If you're talking about Hansen in the Derby, I counted him out about 5 minutes after last year's BC Juvenile ended.  No way he gets a mile and a quarter.

I was expecting a big performance of Consortium. I really had him as the better horse than Algorithms based on his better TG number off the maiden win and getting first Lasix. He really put in a bad one - last beaten 19 lengths. I would've thought he'd take to the sloppy track too. Wonder if something happened.

He won the BC Juvenile and an Eclipse. If he never wins another race, he achieved more than 99% of thoroughbreds. A feel good story, in my eyes. He seems to be one dimensional and would have to continue to develop to wire top 3 year olds and eventually, older. I wonder what his best distance would be?

Hence the expression I heard in NY regarding betting:

"Leave out Pletcher, they take you out on a stretcher."

That may be, but It didn't help Uncle Mo last year after winning the previous 2yr BC.That BC jink is is tough to go against.

Jinx Shminx!!!   No such thing, the facts are that most good three years olds don't start racing until they reach three years old all about the numbers!

Huh? "Most good three year olds don't start racing until they reach three years old"?

Sure about that?

Mottoman: Who was the last Kentucky Derby winner that DID NOT race as a two year old?
