The National Thoroughbred Racing Association, Daily Racing Form and the National Turf Writers And Broadcasters today announced that, in alphabetical order, the three finalists in the Eclipse Awards category of Apprentice Jockey are: Ryan Curatolo, Kyle Frey and Rosario Montanez.
Curatolo, Frey and Montanez were first announced as the finalists in the category on January 5. However, an error relating to the data in the Apprentice Jockey category provided to the three voting organizations and to voters for the initial vote, which closed on January 3, caused the Steering Committee comprised of NTRA, NTWAB and DRF, to call for a re-vote, which was concluded today.
Winners for all 17 equine and human categories, including Apprentice Jockey, will be announced on Monday, January 16 at the 41st Eclipse Awards ceremony to be held at the Beverly Wilshire, a Four Seasons Hotel, in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The Eclipse Awards, presented by the Daily Racing Form and the Breeders’ Cup, are bestowed upon horses and individuals whose outstanding achievements in North America have earned them the title of Champion in their respective categories. Those awards are voted by NTRA, Daily Racing Form and the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters (NTWAB). Awards also are given to recognize members of the media for outstanding coverage of Thoroughbred racing.
