Might anybody be aware of the stabling capacities (horses) in the old days?

I've no numbers on Wolverine, however Hazel Park at one time reached 1,400.

 Anybody know the numbers for:
Maywood?
Sportsman's Park?
Hawthorne?

 Roosevelt?
Yonkers?

Lexington?

Others?

Don ,

I found this on Maywood's website but I believe they have about 400 horses on the grounds pesently.

In 1969 Maywood Park began construction of 39 fire-proof steel and concrete barns-containing 984 stalls-13 blacksmith shops, 6 separate fire-proof motel type living units containing more than 200 rooms, and a modern paddock with attached driver's facilities.

Many thanks blind.

Within my archives of the previously published magazines there are many references to the adding of new barns and the stable capacities.

Unfortunately, attempting to sort it all out, with keyword searches results in returned-results in the thousands.

Probably a Freudian slip I typed pesently versus presently.  doh

Sportsmans is hard to look up, since it is now gone but I would have to say it was over 1,000.

what an excellent topic...seems like MOST...and I mean most, had somewhere in the area of a thousand stalls on the grounds back when...and most were full. Seems to me Balmoral had 19 barns at 46 stalls a piece when + barn 26 which now is trying hard not to fall in. Balmoral as a practical matter has the space and ability to have one of the best back sides p[ossible...only problem is, they wouldnt put 5 cents into the place if they were handed 5 million....simple truth.
