Anybody know why 6 of the 8 scratched out of the stakes races yesterday down there?

Something happened, because they were all Trainer Scratches. Cat's colt won by 40? That's what equibase had.

I know why 3 of those trainers scratched.   1 horse 'I heard' was in Indiana and wasnt here for the race (dont know anything else about that though or if its true since I only heard that).  2 of the trainers I talked to myself and they both said their horses came up badly soar from training over the track surface at fairmount while waiting for the race and they felt they had to scratch their horses due to the soreness problems.   If this holds truth- it could make sense that Catalano stayed in because his horse was shipped in for the race and wasnt soar from training on the track previously to the race.  I have heard there is alot of problems with the coushin and uneveness of the track currently, and that horses are either too sore or worse with serious injuries- hope with the 3% they will fix the track first.
I know they recently let go the trackmaster who has worked there for like 20 years- trainers & jockeys are also complaing right and left that this is the worse they have ever seen the track-  it is a coincidence or does the new trackmaster do things differently than the previous?  I dont run many horses at fairmount so I wouldnt know myself but I have heard alot of complaints about the track condition lately.

Seems that for those who did participate in the stakes races they will have to wait for their checks. (supposedly they were sent out). However, they did seem to find a way to deduct the jock mounts out of the owners accounts. Well I certainly hope for those people the check is truly indeed in the mail.

The race track had nothing to do with the purses. This was all compliments of the Ag dept.
