DELAWARE, OH—Delaware radio station WINF (101.9-FM) and Marysville radio station WQTT (1270-AM) will broadcast “live” all of the harness races from the Delaware County Fair, September 18-22, concluding with Thursday’s 66th Little Brown Jug. The broadcast will be streamed online on the worldwide web at
www.winf.fm and
www.qt1270.com for listeners around the world.
The broadcasts include the live call of each race from the track announcers, interviews, handicapping analysis of each race, updated odds and complete mutuel results, Airtime begins each day 30 minutes before post time. That will be 11:30 a.m. Sunday and Tuesday and 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday. There will be no racing on Monday.
Hosting for the second straight year will be Don Berman and Hall of Famer Dean Hoffman, two harness racing experts from Central Ohio. Berman is a veteran broadcaster, handicapper and long time fan. Dean Hoffman is a harness historian, former editor of Hoof Beats magazine and columnist for several harness racing magazines.
“We are very happy for these radio broadcasts because they provide an extra service to our fans who are not able to see the races because they are on out in the barn area or partying at their tailgates,” said Phil Terry, general manager and director of marketing for the Delaware County Fair.
Hall of Fame announcer Roger Huston, the voice of the Little Brown Jug for more than 40 years, will also make his handicapping selections each day and his calls will be part of the broadcasts.
66th LITTLE BROWN JUG WIDE OPEN
With only 52 days remaining, the 66th Little Brown Jug is wide open. There have been five major races for three-year-old pacers and five different winners. The $610,000-est. Little Brown Jug will be contested Thursday afternoon, September 22 at the Delaware, OH County Fairgrounds.
The latest Jug hopeful to score an important victory, is Alsace Hanover, who captured Saturday’s $500,000 Adios in a world record 1:48.3 over *** The Dragon. The colt is trained by Tony O’Sullivan and driven by four-time Jug winner Ron Pierce.
