when some people say horse racing wasn't the same and blah blah i just say....

jockey: john velazquez and time and time again he puts in great mounts and has been around since the 90s and i feel with these kinds of mounts he puts in he like reminds people he's like a version of angel cordero

trainer: todd pletcher and time and time again he puts in his horses where they belong and gives them freshening as welll and is kind of the like the next d. wayne lukas of the 80s and 90s.

I know I'm no Andy Serling, but what exactly does "mounts he puts in" mean?

When people refer to the decline of racing, I think they are referring to the decline in the quality of the breed in America, good stock being sold to foreign interests, meds, early retirement to stud, pin hooking, breeding to sell not race. There is also the disappearance of the wealthy families in racing who bred, owned, and raced. Comparing a rider to Angel Cordero is the ultimate compliment. Comparing a trainer to D. Wayne could be viewed differently. Some might say that he was bad for racing. I think that racing started down the slippery slope in the early 1980s with Magnier and Makhtoum at the Keeneland sales ring. Plus, the change in tax laws.

JoeMama . .

Nice post.  And thank you for answering Journalstuff's thread without putting him down.  He's really trying to learn and get some respect here.

He's knocked it off on the Lady GaGa stuff and sticks to horse racing now.  We need young fans and he probably brings friends into racing.
