If you intended to win, you wouldn't use Hiteman, you would use someone with talent Roll Eyes

If you have a complete rat ,and know that you are not  the best, Hiteman is your man....He wins most of his races in the nw of 1-2-3 to be claimed for 6000....all he does is sit, sit, sit and when other rats in the race are  all done and drift out, here comes the idiot to snap you on the last jump......most of the horses he wins on never come back and win again because they really have won by default......but i am biased because every time i have the pick 9, or 4 working that little maggot seems to beat me on a longshot and never gets a lock home that i have singled..I hate betting the maggot....would rather have brett ballinger to wager on

Horse Voice, that's really just about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Obviously, you don't know a lot about the business.

Hiteman has won over 7300 races in his career, 16th highest of all drivers in history. Last year he won 281 races and over $2.3 million in purses. You think putting him up on my horse is cheating the public?

its typical of the betting public that if a driver isnt carving his ride or leaving marks like steak fresh off the grill he isnt trying hard enuff..that is  philshyt ..typical of the big bettor .. dale isnt usually on the best in the race and who says you cant bet him to run second and third in your gimmicks .. maybe his pushing doesnt appeal to most of your sado masochistic tendencies , but whipping FEROCIOUSLY like racetrack phulofshyt wants him to do went out with dollar a gallon gas..most of the best drivers drive with their hands and legs anyway, and crack the shaft of the bike.. not treat the animal like a piece of meat

Off Stride, I have said for many, many years that we should totally ban whips. Let the drivers touch the horse with their feet-it's much more humane than beating the shit out of a dead horse with a whip.

If I ever saw blood on one of my horses after a race from a whip, that was the last time the guy drove my horse. Some of us actually like horses....

There are times when you are starting out that you try so hard that you think that the only way to get the most out of your horse is to hit them and if it doesn't work ,hit them harder, but I don't think that a horse that is obviously trying as hard as he can will go any faster by getting a beating !     IMO     Bobcat

Informative stuff about using vs. whipping of horses.

There was a recent race - can't locate the program page - in which a horse driven by Holland bobbled stride coming out of the last turn.

The horse didn't much figure on paper and had little chance from his position. But as soon as he lost stride Holland INSTANTLY whipped him HARD five times. Once in the stretch, with no chance, the horse was obviously eased.

It looked like Holland simply got pissed off. Would a trainer recommend hard whipping of a horse AFTER losing stride when there is chance for a check?

Lately I've been watching some chicago races ! what the hell happened to dale ? alls I see is this goffy motion of pushing the bike or something that looks unnatural back and forth . does'nt go to whip much in the drive . now here's a guy that was a ferocious whipper in the stretch , now he just looks plain terrible driving ! let me say I always really liked dale and still do as a person with a great personality and he sure could drive years ago ! but to watch him drive now really hurts me to see this guy has lost his talent . I guess father time has caught up to dale ! one thing for sure father time does'nt miss anybody .                  RTP
mr offstride piece of shit who twists my words ! where do I say i like a guy who beats a horse you idiot . I made the remark thats the way dale use to drive ! but mostly the thread is about the way he sits in the bike that looks kind of un-natural you moron . my point was that maybe cause he's getting older he is'nt the same driver . but you keep saying that I want him to beat a horse to win my bet you moron ! when I've told you numerous times I dont bet chicago . your such an idiot ! I owned horses and would let nobody carve up my horses they had better be hitting mostly shaft ! unlike you I know drivers on a personal level and they respected my wishes when they drove for me . there are a lot of gamblers who want there horse to win at all cost ! thats them ! dont refer to me as them idiot ! dont assume what I think ! read what I write moron ! just keep entertaining posters with cute pictures thats all your good for as far as racing your a pure idiot ! your like the little kid in the school yard who wants to play with the big boys . again your amongst people with experience owning and training and gamblng ! your a computer posting picture expert period your out of your element in any racing discussion . you can twist my words to suit you all you want but many posters know me and know how I feel about racing and what I have invested in the game owning and gambling in my life . your 48 years old what have you invested other than twist my words ! the answer NOTHING ! GET A LIFE YOU PATHETIC IDIOT !

I love it when the Dale apologists trot out his statistics -- he did this 100 years ago, and he did that last year.

Big deal -- if you are looking for a "soft" driving effort for *this* horse in *this* race from Ride The Rail Dale, you do not intend to win and are therefore defrauding the betting public *right now*.

The problem isn't me -- I can see with my own eyes that Hiteman isn't trying to win about 80% of the time; the problem is with YOU and all of the other ignorant inbred hillbilly harness folks, that think it's OK to do whatever you want when enter a race, because it's YOUR horse and you'll do whatever you goddamn please with it.

Well, maybe it is OK -- at least in the short run, if for no other reason that you are getting away with it -- but in the grand scheme of things, it's killing the sport, because the betting public doesn't trust you anymore.

That's why you idiots are racing for ham sandwiches these days, when you used to race for steak and lobster.

(Don't dare blame the casinos...that tons of horse bettors ran directly into THAT fire without a second thought tells you how bad they thought they were getting fleeced at the track by cheating horsemen.)

And help from the legislature? Forget it, because for every one of you inbreds begging for slots money, there are ten of me calling and saying "Don't you dare give these crooks one extra penny!! They'll just steal that, too!!"

bottom line: people who work hard all week on their horse and have owners that want you to produce so that owner may buy you new horses use guys like tetrick, sears, brennan, gris, etc! farmers who own their own horses who just feed them, tub and poultice their legs, and have no one to answer to and just want their precious liitle horsey to just get them a check so they can afford feed the next week and not be hurt use hiteman!!!!!!!!!that simple folks!! thumbs down

Yea, we all saw Tetrick at the Little Brown Jug. That's what I want-my guy knocking horses down to try and win, then getting taken down.  Grin

Whether Hiteman is trying or not trying is besides the point. The fact of the matter is he can't make speed. You need to make speed in today's harness racing. Maybe in the 1970's you could get away with driving against old time trainer-driver types who all sat up, went in single file in 'gentlemen's harness racing' but no more. Today is the day of the speed crazy, lean back, slashing type catch driver who is all out to win and get every dollar he can get. The game has passed a few by....unfortunately, Hiteman is one of them.

Why he continues to get SO many mounts is baffling. Anyone here reading this who uses Hiteman is just throwing money down the drain. Sure, you don't want to replace Dale w a top speed-making driver and don't want to hurt his feelings and replace him, but the bottom line is that every drive is costing you money in your OWN pocket. Shocked

Today's athlete is younger, thinner, and a good athlete.....dale hiteman is none of that. He's not athletic enough to compete.

You know what else is funny? I would imagine there's gotta be SOMEONE here who knows hiteman who's reading this. Heck, maybe even Hiteman himself checks in once in a while.....can anyone out there tell him to LEAN BACK and LOOK like a guy who's 'making speed'.?

I watch the races thinking, "you know, at some point Dale is going to lean back...then we will know he got the message"
