I would think racing the same horse even 2 times a week would be considered animal cruelty.

I wouldn't race the type of horse that we see racing twice a week in this way.  Most of them are lame, and personally I believe you could make as much money if not more (and keep cost down) by racing them less and keeping them fresh.  With that said however, try not and forget traditionally in this sport most horses always went 2 heats, and sometimes 3 or 4, in one day.

You have never been to DuQuoin to witness the World Trotting Derby ??
Delaware, Ohio to watch the Little Brown Jug??
The Hambiltonian was a trotting classic when one had to win two heats (on the same day) to win the crown before it was bastardized by the Meadowlands in NJ. It's a nice race today but just a race.

If you don't train in between races, why isn't this acceptable?

Best,

Ed

No one trains in Chicago anyway.  It takes less time and effort to pre-race and with better results!

I cannot believe someone compared Chewy with the World Trotting Derby. There is a HUGE differnece between Grand Circuit care of  a horse with limited starts to poor Chewy who does not get any care and is not fed properly, he has made more visits to Dr. Kaprin then any horse in history, 22 or so starts already, ENOUGH already... Race 5 daYS A WEEK for the love of God..

I totally agree that racing a horse twice a week is just ABSURD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hoping Chewy doesn't bleed out and have heard he bleeds over lasix
Other Infamous Crew is .....
The owners Zerro/ Kobolinski (trainer?) are often racing the poor stock as much as possible ( little big cam -Jerry's thunder -red head tramp -voodoo gambler and the list is a bit longer!
However I'm told they VET these horses OUT blocking blocking blocking so the horse can RACE for the few RUBLES offered at Maywood Park ....
Hoping the time will not come when these  horses can't feel what causing the soreness (fractures ,chips , broken , displaced bones and whatever can be injected with drugs ) and they fall /breakdown in front of FANS or injure the drivers which this crew never even is seen warming up these horses .
I'm told five dollars will get the horses warmed up fifteen for lazix and thats all it takes !!!!!
I'm just a former owner of harness horses and realize the horses i have racing at Hawthorne can race alot these days but our trainer said she will never compromise the horse or jockey !!!!!!
I wonder what the vet bills can be on the horses who race so often
Funny how this crew NEVER Wins a race  .......
Cant wait for the Big A to open
