thumbs up That big stable out of Chicago (Ivanho?) would send Bucky horse's and Joe would drive them, always live! dollar dollar
Ivanho Stable was William Wirtz .
Governor Skipper fame, but I thought John Chapman drove him.
I think the Wirtz family also owned the Blackhawks hockey team.

I am just an old "Hoss" trainer, that has been raced hard and put away wet.
As my Friend from Maine(Ora Stratton) says "There are horse trainers, and then there are real "Hoss" trainers.

Trainer was Bucky Norris, the last human being I actually heard use the word "golly."

Still do although "Dollar" Bill Wirtz passed away a few years ago his son Rocky owns the team.

Ivanhoe stables owned many Buck Norris trainees.

Marangi had a great jump shot.

Norris was kind of a hangdog-looking guy, but he had a smokin' daughter.  Still remember his purple & white colors, nice old guy, used to talk to the railbirds.

Terry Bradshaw threw a a football 100yds. at a Louisiana Tech F.B. Camp.

Vinny Testaverde threw 86yds. in a Q.B. Challenge in the 90s.

Their have been 10 people on record throwing 99yds.

Makes 80yds. look like a lite weight!

Without question he could.  Vegas is right he played behind Joe Ferguson in Buffalo but I never got the impression that Marangi took it seriously.

think the last trainer to give him some drives was Angie Affrunti and that was a couple of years ago. She might know where he is and how he is doing.

A Ron marsh related story involving ***.
When I first started posting here I commented on a terrible drive Marsh gave the then two year old My Boy David (a millionaire pacer).
Sure enough the owners switched drivers before the big year end stake and won the big race.
*** railed agaisnst me and pushed marsh.
I mentioned that Ronnie used to get his haircut at the same barber I did.
*** as many know searched high and low to find out exactly who I am.
He's actually named me as about 10 different people.
He was absolutely sure each of the ten times that he had finally found out who I was.
I had mentioned where I grew up and that i still went there to see this barber.
Sure enough after the original posts about My boy David, I go into the barber who I've known since childhood.
In conversation we start talking about harness racing.
He asks me if marsh is still driving and tells me he hasn't seen Ronnie in a few years.
But....he got a strange call from an number (las Vegas cell phone) and the caller asked him if Ronnie Marsh got his hair cut there.
My barber who was the sweetest guy in the world was polite but said the caller started asking him if any gamblers etc; got their harcut there and the caller named three or four names.
My barber said the guy was a first class jerk.
That described *** perfectly.
It had to be *** trying to find out about yours truly.
If *** would only work that hard in trying to find work.
LOL!!!!!!!!

Eyes Only on this... after the bogus '60 election, Hoover dispatched some of his top operatives to shadow Burton's barber, figuring that this would lead them either to Burton, Momo Giancana, or to someone who gave out the best numbers for FIVE DOLLARS FIVE DOLLARS FIVE DOLLARS.  (Remember that Hoover loved nothing better than to go to the racetrack with his butt buddy Clyde Tolson.)  JFK tried to have Hoover tossed, but Hoover threatened to spill the beans on JFK's flings, including the outrageous one with Inga Binga the Nazi, and JFK had to back off and retrench; the Bay Of Pigs invasion then went into fail mode because the "Cubans" and E. Howard Hunt had been given the wrong numbers for the night's races at Havana Downs.  Nixon refused to contest the '60 election because Burton's barber couldn't get rid of Nixon's five-o'clock shadow, meaning that JFK would just beat him again in '64; much later on, Liddy recommended breaking into that barbershop rather than the office of Ellsberg's shrink.  Fast-forward to November 22, 1963, when the two "bums" who popped up suspiciously at Dealey Plaza when Oswald whacked JFK were found with Washington Park racing programs on their person, a fact withheld from the public until now.

All a part of our sordid-- and, up until now, untold-- history.
