George Bush pushed the knife in....Obama shoved it all the way and twisted it to make sure the wound never closes

 thumbs up thumbs up

I always said a President can't ruin in a country in 4 years, maybe not even 8.  Now we've got 12 & possibly at least 4 more.

As they say on American Idol: "America has voted and here are your results".

I don't know how I signed up for a racing forum, and ended up talking politics but just so I'm not all ***...here is what I would do if I was King for a day.

Edict #1  -  is have a balanced-budget amendment. It's completely immoral to spend more than you tax if you're the government because all you're   doing is taxing future generations of Americans who are not even entitled to have a vote on decisions that you're making.
It's totally immoral to leave vast debts to our children and grandchildren. Every American ought to understand this. So I would put in a balanced-budget amendment that says unless our continental United States is invaded by a foreign enemy we have to run a balanced budget. If the Mexicans decide to invade us, then OK… we can run a deficit for a couple years just until we can repel the invasion. Perhaps the Canadians will come after us. We don't know.

But there's no point at all in believing these foreign adventures in Iraq and Afghanistan are worth the debts we're going to leave to our children. And don't even get me started on Medicare and Social Security running deficits like that. It's just completely immoral, and it shows just how decrepit and disgusting the American political process has become. So a balanced-budget amendment is No. 1.

Edict #2 - you have to have sound money. When you don't have sound money, none of the economy can function correctly. Prices are the most important form of information in the economy. Prices are what inform entrepreneurs about what needs to be created and what doesn't need to be created. When you don't have sound money, you have a completely distorted price system, and it all falls apart. Then of course, people say, "Oh, look, capitalism has failed." No, we haven't had capitalism in this country since before World War II. What we've had ever since then is this sort of phony corporate state capitalism, really sort of socialism-light. So you have to have sound money... Otherwise, the economy can't function appropriately or efficiently. When I say sound money, I mean either gold and silver as money or a sound backing for such a currency.

Edict #3
Everyone should be entitled to as many votes as they have spent dollars in taxes. Real simple. If you spend a ton of money in taxes, you get to have a powerful vote. If you don't pay any taxes, you don't get a vote at all because you haven't invested at all in the equity of our country. So I think that would really eliminate a lot of the problems that we have with people voting themselves the largesse of our treasury.

Right now in America, half the people in our country don't pay any federal income taxes – none. So they are net beneficiaries of the welfare state, and they're going to continue to vote for more and more welfare until they bankrupt our entire country. The incentives of that are so clearly perverse everyone should understand why that's not a safe process, and I think that just giving people the vote based on their taxes is really simple.

Rant over....now let's talk some racing

very interesting stuff, people. I agree with what Tony Clifton said....while we argue right or left, conservative or liberal, the fact is, the rich keep taking more no matter what the letter is behind the pol. Not it's just so stupidly polarized it's just absurd. I have long been a proponent of a national sales tax, which, oddly enough OFFENDS EVERYONE. I love the argument made against it....oh, it would be too much of a percentage of a poor person's income....right. People who say stupid shit like that have never been poor. If a person has 300$ a week to live that's what they have, irregardless of the sales tax rate. But, alas, it truly doesnt matter....the dow was 6100 just after the election, is now back to 12K.....rich getting richer...and we argue. pointless.

rural tea party  america  that put these psychos into  office  were wrong  in the last election

cutting the safety net that enables americans to lead a better life

WAIT  until  the HOG PARTY cuts  affect  your  districts

and i hope you feel it.

rural  medical  health  ,  clinics  closing down  --  Yep.

no pell  grants   --  NOPE   your kids  want to go to college   FORGET IT.

and life for the mega  rich  is going  to  get  a HECK  of a lot better.

Social Security  is  fully funded  until 2037

raise the cap and it will be funded forever

raise the cap on medicare and   it  will be funded  forever.
and a single payer system wil make it even more successful.

send a message to the president  not  to put the big three on the table
the most  successful  programs in the country
Medicare, Social Security  and Medicaid
Most on medicaid are disabled

the largest  recipients  of Social Security  are  ELDERLY WOMEN

if you took Social Security  away  from elderly  women
they  would  be in destitute poverty

if you took social security  away  form elderly cancer survivors
they too  would be in destitute povery

without considering the effect  on their families.

these are the people  the HOG PARTY  doesn't care about.

Y'know, it is the entirety of America making the rich richer.  Entertainers & athletes - they're worth 100 million a year, right?  Just keep paying those big prices to go to the games or concerts or for the NFL ticket or whatever.

Then complain that they make too much.  head shake head shake

The only guy who has it right is Fair & Balanced Terry, who's committed to giving away 25% of his income to the social programs that he stands by.  Way to go, Terry.

This has nothing to do with entertainers/athletes. They make up very little of the wealthy elite that the OP is targeting.

At least I'm willing to pay taxes for the programs the government delivers and I believe in... unlike the right-wing phonies who think there's some kind of miracle to be gained by cutting taxes way back while putting military spending spending in overdrive for 8 years, and then all of a sudden discovering that "the country is broke" entirely because they reduced revenues so much.

I just paid the IRS over $300 in interest for being late by one day.  They get 10% for any lateness.  I asked the IRS agent where I can sign up to lend out my money for 10% for one day's lateness.  She laughed.  Thanks allot!

The rich have lots of money, so therefore, we should... defund the military and become an isolationist fortress!!

Funny how little difference there is between the left and right fringes.

What? Close to a $trillion a year, and you're calling it a small portion?

No need to defund it, just pay the damn taxes to pay for the military the rich demand to protect all their assets and business interests.  thumbs up

With all these bogus foreign wars like Iraq and now Libya we keep getting into to protect oil interests ... can you imagine the TRUE cost of a gallon of gas to the American people? Scary.

Bogus?  You mean, like, fake?  Someone made 'em up?  Saddam wasn't feeding his enemies into plastic shredders?  Do tell.

And yeah, the US gets into wars solely to "protect oil interests"... like Bosnia, right? Lots of oil derricks there in Sarajevo, by jings.

The cost of a gallon of gas to the American people happens to be far, FAR less than the folks up north of the 49th parallel pay for an equivalent amount.

I already have... I've been to Canada a number of times, and, yes, they are not on the US dollar.

Yeah, forget that I paid on time every single week for 14 years, then one November day my bank says they no longer accept payroll payments to the IRS - go to their web site.  So you sign up, sign in, pay it on Wednesday & it doesn't post till Thursday.  One day late = 10%.  Seems fair.

They are the #1 terrorist organization in the world.

What can I say, Terry?  You're a f***in genius with your comments.  I have no problem affording the $300.  Of course you owe nothing because you're one of the 50% who doesn't have to pay anyway.  I'm grateful I'm not one of those.

Close to a $trillion a year

true  depending on how its measured   and who is measuring  military spending  is close to $1,000,000,000,000
per annum

maybe more

the u.s  has a greater military spend ing budget than the REST OF THE WORLD combined

it outspends iran and korea  at a rate  of 72 -1 .

currently  not ONE member of the  HOG PARTY will  vote   for either  a tax  rollback  or whittle any  of this  massive chunk   out of  of the federal budget.

this is where your income taxes  go.

please  take note   social security  and medicare  are not funded  by income taxes  but are federal  trust funds.  in other words,  s.s and mediacare  funding  are separate  from  the  income tax appropriations.

the richest  400  individuals in our country (who cry they are broke  Cry )  have total  wealth =  to the lowest

150,000,000

since ronald reagan taxes  on the wealthiest have  reduced by 1/3

while taxes  on the poor and middle  class  (who really are broke)  have doubled

According to an article from the Univ. of Cal. Santa Cruz (Left leaners, of course), titled "Who Rules America", here's the top 1% of wealth vs. the other 99% thru the years:

Year     Top 1%    99%

1922      36%       63%
1933      33%       66%
1945      29         70
1953      31         68
1965      34         65
1979      20         79
1989      35         64
1998      38         61
2007      34         65

I think this study & these numbers totally diffuse the left's arguments.
