A few years back, he had eleventy squillion horses and endless stable entries in good races... now he's got about four horses at YONKERS?

What happened?

He was getting into trouble here in Chicago. I am not sure if he lost some owners. His farm had been for sale for about 2-3 years. I think it went up for auction recently.

Joe Anderson is the 6th leading trainer at Yonkers.
The track with the highest purse in the US.
I'd call that being pretty successful

The answer is very simple. Ryan Anderson. The minute he started to let him drive, Joe's stats started to decline. If it wasn't for his father, Ryan Anderson would be mopping the floors at peep shows.

I'll leave the expertise on peep shows to you.
I do know Ryan has won around 2000 races.
He was the youngest driver to win a Breeders Crown, he's won a Juggette and the Windy City Pace.
He drove for me on ocassion years ago and he is a class act

Get well wishes to Ryan.  Has had his share of serious injuries in his career. Shame.
Nice kid the three or four times we met him at Balmoral thru mutual acquantinces.

Welcome back Burton.  thumbs up beer thumbs up

I am just an old "Hoss" trainer, that has been raced hard and put away wet.
As my Friend from Maine(Ora Stratton) says "There are horse trainers, and then there are real "Hoss" trainers.

How many were on "other than Joe Andersons horses"? Or when Ryan was down as trainer when Joe his suspension for positives. That would be an interesting statistic.

Can you name a driver/trainer with a major operation that wins a higher percentage of starts on other people's horses? That might be interesting too?

Same as Brennen on Pena horses and on other trainers horses . Meaningless stat. How about when Ryan was the driver for Art Official . Won the 500k Hoosier Cup , Just Saying .

More like his main owner got into some trouble here (John Leahy) after that there was no reason to stay Huh

I'm not big fan of Ryan since he claimed one he catch drove for me but I do not wish harm to him.

John Leahy got nailed, along with nine million other people , in the Infamous Chicago Hired Truck Program Scandal.  Criminal Fraud.

Bribes in Chicago ?  Pay to Play in Illinois ?  Can't believe it.

"little Joe" should still drive them himself !  VERY underrated as a driver - and now I know everyone's going to say yeah he was driving juiced up steeds - but even when he catch drove he was very successful....

Name other trainers as successful as Joe Anderson has been during the last 20 years. The list isn't that long......
