Well, election time is a week away.  Who will come through for the tracks, the Republicans or Democrats?  Both?  Or nobody?  If you reply to this, stay away from the minor issues like jobs, the economy, health care, education, wars, corruption, etc, and concentrate on the major issue of slots at the track.

The judge that awards the retroactive money to us owners that deserve it will show me the money.

The slots are a major issue to tracks in Illinois, but to this state and its elected officials it is a small pimple issue among so many other bigger issues.  Just wait until the property tax issue comes to full bore after the election.  Lets hope they pass slots!

I've yet to see more than a handful of politicians ever stand up for the taxpayers as a whole UNLESS they could make some skim off the deal.

Politicians are greedy whores who will do anything for a buck no matter what party they are in.

In terms of racing they will listen to whichever lobbyist representing whichever group makes the biggest campaign donation.  Usually that is NOT racing sad to say.

So, you're saying then that nobody will get Dan the slots money his stock portfolio needs to pay higher dividends and bonuses?
Can we stick to Dan's question, please?

Dan,

Looks as if Mr. D. according to the Sun Times is giving money to the  censor from the Republican Party running for gov. so I think that answers you question.

I responded to another posters comment.  If you don't like it don't read it.

I answered his question in my first post, whichever group gives the most money will get what they want.

His question was answered here, now find something else to complain about:

In terms of racing they will listen to whichever lobbyist representing whichever group makes the biggest campaign donation.  Usually that is NOT racing sad to say.

In NJ the casino lobby outspends the horse racing lobby 100 to 1...who do you think a whore politician will listen to?

I'm sure it will be no different in Illinois.  Sure a politician who represents a heavily agricultural district may want to help racing but he'll be no match for anyone else in terms of money.  If the politicians make a good buck and it helps racing, then pro-racing/slots legislation gets passed.

It was actually my big fingers that typed it.

We can't afford the best government money can buy.  Glad to see you can afford to pay more taxes for politicians to get rich off of but most can't.

Try a reading comprehension course.  I responded to his comment...he 's right.

When you say "we" then, you mean bustouts.

Rico has found the way to avoid taxes.  Thats how Rico stays rico.

No I mean taxpayers.  Those who do not pay taxes of course will keep voting themselves increases.

Remember one thing, in these economic times most hard working family people don't care about horse racing or gambling legislation.  When times are good it's a different story.

In NJ of all the politicians I've met there is only one who honestly cares about racing and that's state assemblymen Ronald Dancer.  He actually talks to the horsemen and cares what their issues are.

Then again look at his last name and you'll see why.....he's been around the business his whole life.

As for a specific party it's hard to say....I think Dancer is a Republican.  Again it will all be about the money.

A big problem for Dems and their supporters is Republicans own and run racing in IL and  KY.

Good answer when you're overmatched in a discussion.

I'm not overmatched.  It seems Janine took issue with something else I had written and scratched it out.  Someone must have raised a sweat over it and asked for her to comply with their own personal doubts and insecurities.  Was it you?

This is easy to answer, if you put your local politician's hat on, and ask yourself the time-honored question that politicians always ask themselves before voting: "What's in it for me?"

Answer to my question: Nothing.

Answer to your question: Nobody.

I might seem sour, but I'm not. Just being realistic: hardly anyone outside of horse racing cares about horse racing.

Nope.  But go ahead and ask her.

Yeah, he has done that before, I believe he gave 400k to George Ryan.  I think we got something out of that, the 10th casino money.  Well, we were supposed to get it anyway.

Thanks for the answers.  I believe I should have reworded my subject line with "Who do we show the money to?"
