First filly-pace elim to dozen-winning `Peelers'
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – See You At Peelers, off of her 11th-straight win in a New York Sires Stakes championship final last week, won her 12th-straight race in the first Breeders Crown elim for frosh-filly pacers at Pocono Downs, Oct. 1, in 1:51.3.
"Next time is going to be thirteen," said confident co-owner Christina Takter, wife of trainer Jimmy.
The race was a jump-fest, as Ms Malicious took the top first and the shuffle went from there with "Peelers" taking over and Drop The Ball wide to take the lead from that one as the field burned through a :54 half.
Ms Malicious wound up second and Honky Tonk Woman, who was swift and sharp to begin and stayed out of the breakers’ paths, got third at 43-1 to complete the triple, and the trio headed for the final.
John and Tim Fielding also co-own the filly. The time of 1:51.2 was a new track record, erasing that of Gordon's Gin Ms set in 2002.
