Does anyone remember in late 80's or early 90's several drivers and trainers getting taken from some big  dollar by some bogus financial deal? I seem to remember it being in the millions of dollars. Cant remember if anyone was prosecuted for it or just what happened.

I sure do.  I heard the scammer was originally from Ohio but lived in Harvard, Illinois and was a brother-in-law of Tom Wendt's.  He took some of these guys for big bucks. Some of the guys who got taken were Eric Ledford, Brent Holland, Tony Morgan, Erv Miller, Andy Miller, Sam Widger and others.  He got away with soemthing like $500k and is in an Ohio prison, from what I was told. Wonder if Tom was able to share in any of that loot.

He was prosecuted, but the guy is insolvent so most likely none of the guys will ever see a dime of their lost "investments."  The financial adviser was simply transferring money around between the investors while he gambled the principle away.  I worked for a trainer who got hit.  It basically took all the savings he had from the biggest year of his career...which was a lot.

OS, if you see Tom Wendt in the alley behind Tony Packo's licking a Hungarian sausage wrapper, give him 6 empty pop cans to make a .10 super key at Crimoral, would ya ?  Thanks.   trotter  TC

OS:

Ask for the special discount where you get two insurance cards for the price of one.  This way you can have something like a Blue Cross/Blue Shield hospitalization card and get maybe, a State Farm automobile card that will fool even the sharpest police officer.  LOL

Hey Stride, try finding Tom on a Friday evening when Tony has about five or six 3-5 shots in at Maywood.  Tom is always in a better bargaining mood on days like that.  LOL
