...that althought she will theoretically remain "in training".....Queen Zenyatta will not race again and will be subsequently retired, for real this time, just before having to decide to race in th Hirsh or not......I hope the birdie is wrong.....

That last race had to be tough.

No doubt. She seems to be the kind of horse that will push herself well beyond her "safe" limits of exertion. Those kind of horses scare me. That's why I said elsewhere I don't want to see her carrying high amounts of weight anymore -- she'd try to go that fast with 150 lbs. on her back...but at what cost to her body?

I wish I had a pinhole camera in her stall so I could see how she's doing, see if she's eating up, is she upright or laying around, alert or dull, etc.

Go For Wand was a horse who comes to mind who seemed to push herself beyond her limits.

I hope it's not the same birdie who told you RA was shipping to Saratoga and going to race in the Phipps.

That was a crow you were talking to. The Queen is doing well, ad a matter of fact it is good to be tested every now and then. She will be in the Classic!  Wink

I call ya a greedy ***.  I don't GAF about the classic and just hope she is well.  She's a legendary horse.  Alpha Mare seems to have well connected sources.

My sources in Pennsylvania tell me RA  will be running at Penn National in Sept.

The race will be at a mile and quarter for any females who have won the Preakness.

Even though I would like to see Zenyatta in Saratoga myself, the Classic is the main prize. I was looking forward to an Oaklawn showdown and RA didn't show. That's the breaks of the game. Remember, the great ones show up for the "Big Dance"!

Maybe they will write a special race for RA on the undercard.

Is RA the defending BC Classic Champion? Does anyone refer to her as the best horse in the world?
