I see both the Maywood Pace and the Filly Maywood Pace are listed on the condition sheet to be going for $100,000. Just wondering what horsemen thing about this in relation to most purses being around $2000 - $3000 ?

My feelings are they should have been cut to around $50,000. Probably wouldn't affect the purse account much, but it would be fairer.

racing for 100k is the only thing these horses have to look forward to.....if you take that away illinois bred horses would sell for next to nothing

then nobody would breed in illinois(even less would than now)

it would be a vicous cycle

You have to reward the stakes program.  50G is nothing in the grand scheme of things......besides, owners pay good money to stake these horse.....there was a $1,000 starting fee for the filly pace elim at maywood the other night!!!!

I like the disclaimer at the end

*estimate includes $15,000 from the IDOA breeders fund - which will paid when the state pays.

WTF is that , the state hasn't held up their end of recapture since 2001 and just now making payments to for the 2009 fair races. Make it what it's supposed to be and forget the bullsh*t already.

bb2

The finals will probably be around half in the end but you set it up for the Erv Millers and other former Illinois trainers who have very little stock and presence here.
So it won't do any good for those that have been racing for peanuts.

my vote thumbs down

BB2 and GBC, I see what you guys are saying, and part of me feels that way, too, but I have to agree with Honesthorseman and Chitown Doubts on this one.

I hate the purses for the overnights as much as anyone, but the reality is cutting the purse for these stakes wouldn't materially change the daily purses IMO.

The only reason to breed in Illinois is to have a shot at the stakes. Part of the horse "bug" is the dream that you have the next good one. I'd hate to see that dream taken away.

The Maywood Pace and Filly Maywood Pace purses each include $39,000 from the purse account.  The rest is from nominations, starting fees and Breeders Fund (Dept of Ag, to be paid if and when received).

Thank you very much. I then agree with most of the others - $100,000 is good purse for these races.

BUT, why not make this information public knowledge,( put it on the condition sheets) so idiots like me don't have complain??  That is one of the problems with IL racing - a lot of the information is "hidden".

I thought one of the purposes of the IHHA was to inform the horsemen?  They do it here on a board only after I bring up the subject?  Something doesn't seem quite right?

O&S ,

I really wasn't saying it should be cut , just stating the obvious that more than likely it will be cut in half , lately I have been very negative about Illinois racing and politics.
I'm sure you can understand why
