I have been towing my good horse (object of Art) behind a truck for the last 3=4 weeks as he rehabs from a splint bone operation.  He relaxes nicely when being towed.
Today I decided to jog him in a cart.  I have a power wreel resistance cart that I bought from "Big Ds "but had no intention of using any resistance.  I have a 1/4 mile track and he walked the first lap.  The next 10 rounds, he trotted at a very pleasant rate allowing me to day dream and enjoy the beautiful morning.  He then perked up, switched to a pace and took off at what seemed like a 27 second quarter rate. He is a monster and there was no way I was going to slow him down.  I stepped on the power control and locked both wheels.  It took him about 1/8 to slow down, but he came back to a leisurely trot for about another mile and switched over and tried again.  I put ruts  in the track from locking the wheels, but it sure gave me an appreciation of my power cart.

Some have a lot of luck with a Power Cart.

Best of luck to you!
