$1 pk4   2 4 8 9 / 2 3 7 / 1 2 5 6 8 / 4 9

I can kick myself on this one.  I had the #1 singled in the last leg of the pick 3 ending in the 6th for $8   so I figured i'd try a pick 4 ticket without the even money favorite, figuring I covered the cost of the ticket with the pick 3, and have a great start to the pick 4 with a price, and I hit the last 3 legs for a $1000 pk4, and it would have only cost $30 more to add the 1 to first leg

That is unacceptable.  The pick 3 finishing the 6th was a stone favorite pick 3 paying $19.  If it were a 400 pick 3, that reasoning may be partially justified.

It is amazing what we do to ourselves throughout a day.  I am convinced the best thing to do is put all your bets in before the day starts.  If you want to add something during the day fine.  I never want to do this because I feel that I am showing my money early and effect the opening.  In the mean time, everything I like lately is 10-1 morning line, opens up at 8-5 and then sucks anyway, so it really doesnt matter.
