Fox Hill Farm’s Winslow Homer, winner of the Holy Bull Stakes (gr. III), has been sidelined with a stress fracture and has been taken off the Kentucky Derby trail. He was currently ranked No. 4 on the Derby Dozen.

“He had a little sensitivity in his shin Sunday morning,” Fox Hill owner Rick Porter said. “We went over him with a fine-toothed comb and found a small stress fracture in his cannon bone, resulting in Winslow having to go on the shelf for the next 60-90 days. He should return to training in early April. This is another tough luck story for me and the Fox Hill fans but hopefully we will have a huge summer and fall with him.”

Winslow Homer, a son of Unbridled's Song   who had won three in a row at three different racetracks, was purchased by Porter's bloodstock agent Tom McGreevy for $310,000 at the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale from the Eaton Sales consignment. Bred in Kentucky by Overbrook Farm, he is out of the grade III-winning Summer Squall mare Summer Raven.

Porter said his other top 3-year-old, Laus Deo, winner of the Count Fleet Stakes, is being given 30 days off and has been sent to Tom Simon's Vinery near Ocala, Fla. The son of Medaglia d'Oro   has won two of four starts and earned $75,300.

Even Homers last win the horse was racing with a very high head set.
Maybe just his conformation. Hmmmm!
I have not seen to many good front ends on Unbridled babies?

Unbridled's Song, one of my favorite horses, who suffered from chronic foot problems, just cannot put together a three year old that stays sound. Year in and year out.

So then, what's the appeal of breeding with him?
