A shaft  on one of the Burkes" Harmer bikes broke during a qualifiying race at the Meadows.  Too many Harmer bikes are breaking for my liking.

They are made like garbage.  Truex bikes are a lot more durable.  The biggest problem with these bikes is your using them way too much.  The metals just can't hold up that long.  It's like bending a spoon at the neck.  When you buy the spoon it's strong but after bending it back and forth for a while it's going to break.

I got to look at the shaft and it looks like a rust ring developed around  weld.  Bike was two years old and not used regularly because his drivers usually use their own bikes,

I think there have been a lot of problems with weld joints on what I'd call bikes made by "non-traditional" manufacturers.

I know that Michigan was a holdout in adopting the USTA sulky standards. Has that changed? I can remember seeing some odd creations at Hazel Park a while back.

Now he wants to get one approved that to me looks even weaker.
I hope the USTA does not approve his new open wheel model.

I am just an old "Hoss" trainer, that has been raced hard and put away wet.
As my Friend from Maine(Ora Stratton) says "There are horse trainers, and then there are real "Hoss" trainers.
