Has anyone bought a pair of the stretch hobbles made by Protecto i think. Was wondering if anyone had used these, they look like you could put them on a little tighter on a half mile for a average gaited pacer. Any thoughts ?

We used a prototype of the Protecto stretch, lightweight hobbles while they were still underdevelopment.  The engineer would give us samples to use and provide feedback.  Not sure if they are the ones you are referring to but I'll look it up.  The prototype we used worked great on aged pacers that didn't need hobbles at all but were used to them.  Used them on a half mile too but didn't set them tighter than normal.  The trials on younger horses didn't work so good but we were figuring lots of stuff out on them at the time and stuck with the things that worked.

Thanks for the reply Mare. I may look about getting a set to try on a good gaited horse as well. I was looking for a heavier set for an average gaited horse to race on a half.

Samstar ... I'm not sure how much design stuff he does for Trotters.  He frequents the Pacer Trainers and is from my area.  Saw and spoke to him often when we had a lot of head.  I'll find his number somewhere.  He loves to work with Horsemen directly and listens, carefully.

King .... I think if you contact this guy he'd love if you could use his stuff and give him feedback.  I'll look into this and PM you both.
