Wow.  Who knew one could make so much money that way.

There is a woman at one OTB we frequent lately who does that as she bets.  They have little cardboard boxes next to the machines where you can throw away losing tickets.  Problem is, she stands there and puts them in every time she goes up to bet and doesn't care if someone is behind her needing to get a bet in.  This is in a room you pay extra to get into and there are only six machines.  Two tellers.  When she's there, it's two tellers and five machines.

Exactly.   I don't understand how she gets away with it.

I almost said something to her when I was behind her but then I figured if the "powers that be" aren't saying anything, and it's not my home base, I should just keep my mouth shut.

Maybe a lot of people think it might be better if they don't get their bet in.  Haha.  Not me, I always think my bet is brilliant.  Another haha there.

" doesn't care if someone is behind her needing to get a bet in. "
I hear you on that issue. At the Veijas  Indian casinos
in San Diego I gave up
because you couldn't bet horses late because people were
running discraded tickets through the automatic machines.
Dirty tickets from the floor jam the machines...
no one including security cares..

Used to have fun with the stoopers before the days of the machines.  You could skillfully alter a losing but close ticket and leave it laying by itself on an empty table.  It was sort of like fishing.

At AP, there were a couple that I named as the Chief Stooper and the Stooper in Waiting.  Nowdays, they bring their kids in to scoop up the tickets while the adults in the family run them through the machines.  Such is progress!
