as for what? You hoping for someone's secret mixture? On an open forum? Not likely.

which was always comical, sam, you only need 4 ounces for effect....but horsemens creed, "if some is good, more must be better"...

I haven't used any soda yet. I know everyone is, but I just hate the idea of getting scratched. How much can y ou really get away with and when?

I'm not sure about PA, but the story has it that 2-3 ounces will pass....dont know that I would bother, there are many other things you CAN give that do the same thing. Lactanese comes to mind. I's really hard for me to imagine that something so simple could work so good but it really does for about 80% of them.

Is everyone still using a breathing shot, bleeding shot, tie up shot, and pain shot on race day?

I don't use any pain shot, I don't use a breathing shot unless you would call acetylcystein a beathing shot No bleeding shot unless you could call Kentucky red a bleeding shot and no tie up shot but have used lacto 15 or lacto 100 Most of this stuff doesn't seem to help anyone but the vet who sells it.

Really don't use Acetylcstein for breathing. I like to use Ambroxal or Canadian Bleeder /Breather. Kentucky Red isn't too bad but it won't stop a chronic bleeder. I have had really good luck with tie up horses using Lactanase, Tripart, & Mitachondral.

I just remember some nice articles on the old Racehorsedrugs.com site with some race day strategies.
What a great site that was ! good open talk without the bull shit. Loved when they were selling the recipe for black ice after having it analyzed by the big lab out in California.

What ever happened to the racehorsedrugs site? There was a lot of useful discourse. One day it went POOF! Did it rename? TS

Race horse drugs lost their domain name and didn't continue. I expect that we will duplicate the information here as time goes on. We are adding alot of new participants. Let your friends know that we are here.

id like some good knowledge about pigiron.truthful knowledge.
pig Iron is toxic. I do not know a vet that advises using it. If you use it, use it in the butt. Under no circumstances should you use it IV. I would start with a very small amount to see if the horse tolerates it. Be careful to use a clean needle and work from there. Each horse will be an experiment because sooner or later you will do serious damage to a horse if you use pig iron. If I have a horse that takes 5 ccs a week, that has nothing to do with your horse. Your horse could react negatively to a 5 cc dose and vets tell me that he could die from the reaction. Use at your own risk. I would suggest that you would be better off buying Hippiron. we know that it is well tolerated by most horses and if provides a pretty high dose of iron. Hippiron = ferric hydroxide sucrose complex 20mg per ml Pig iron = iron dextran 100mg per ml Pig Iron has 5 times as much iron per m/l If you are using either pig iron or Hippiron, your horse could have a reaction. You should have epinephrine, cortisone and or an antihistamine available. Hippiron label says to use it IV. I will never use it IV again. I have used it in jugs and had major swelling of the neck several times. I blamed myself for letting it slip out of the vein, but I have never had a swollen neck when I administered a jug without hippiron in it. Please be careful. You asked for truthful knowledge. How did I do?

The PA racing commission knows lol and George Nap knows. Although Dr P says his formulation wouldn't test because it was naturally derived. I can find the three ingredients that Nap tested positive for if they were in fact in Black Ice. Just saying ...
