I see under the cover of darkness, Jrstark determined the Political Thread was nothing more then fighting, deleted the singe-most popular thread in terms of pages and banned futher political threads, saying, "this is a horse racing forum."

I am not going to cry about the First Amendment because this is a private message board and the owner has the right to do what they want but I could not help but see while this is a, "horse racing forum.", we have topics about the ESPN Sex Scandal, Pigland, the NFL and Mariano Rivera.

But any way ...

What Jrstark has done is quietly declare Clockerterry and Edwarren the winner of the Political Thread by doing what the Left does best when they are opposed ... just make it go away. Last I checked, Clockerterry was on "Ignore" by nearly TWO DOZEN PEOPLE here. Edwarren was on "Ignore" by neary a DOZEN PEOPLE.

So who is really causing the problem? The large majority or just two people? However, the solition has been to just get rid of it all.

Harness Racing cant be a year round topic any longer.

I wish you all the best.

When will Barn To Wire finally do the right thing and ban Clockerterry & Edwarren for their continued lies, anti-American & anti-semetic statements and their general disrutpive stupidity?

I have to say that while the Political thread caused more animosity & aggravation than it should, I was able to learn just how stubborn some people are.  I understand now that some will take their side & pound the table regardless of evidence & logic.  So it did do some good but in general, I agree that it was full of hate.  Still, I had the right to turn it off when I wanted & now that choice is gone.

Oh, I'll have no problem replacing it, there are many other forums but the question that lingers is why not have what people want?

You will undoubtedly get fewer hits, resulting in less advertising revenue so was this a smart business move?  I think it's a pretty bad move, financially speaking, but in-line with what harness racing would do.

Take most any thread here (with the exception of the past few days; most recent")

Copy and paste a portion with a significant name and then into a google search (make sure to enclose the copy and pasted portion in quotes).
In MOST instances, you'll find the information has been indexed by google.

Why would the owners/moderators of this website/forum desire their web pages to be indexed with materials that are not focused within the topics of their website?

Or forum contributions that could make their website look bad (as well as attracting non-racing participants whom are focused primarily  on those non-racing topics?)

It's simply not beneficial to this website or the forum participants to focus upon non-racing topics.

Dolfan,

But again, who is causing all that animosity & aggravation? Clockerterry and Edwarren , who are on ignore by so many of us here or the rest of us who enjoyed it? Take it away from those causing the problem, not the rest of us.

Of course, there are other places to go.

I just hope that Clockerterry and Edwarren keep Barn To Wire afloat in January and February when harness racing is at its peak,

It's simply not beneficial to this website or the forum participants to focus upon non-racing topics.

1 - who is it hurting?
2 - "focus" on non-racing topics?  In the real world, 95% of my life is non-racing.  Do you propose this website be for racing participants only?

Bottom line is 1 out of every 5 threads talk of the demise of the sport, which is often in the hands of politicians but you want to keep politics out of it?

I guess the Jeff Gural thread needs to go to.  And how about the threads about Chicago & just about everywhere else that there are casinos involved.  Is that not political?  Isn't it, in fact, vital to the sport, who is elected?

Huge vote coming in just 2 weeks for Governor of NJ & polls indicating a dead heat.  Is what happens to the Meadowlands not important to the sport?

You, primarily, by posting so much political nonsense on a racing forum.

One of the things that is so impressive about BTW is that Thread titles are representative of the posts they contain.  Don't like the title, don't read the thread.

Personally, I don't mind non-racing topics at all.  Most of us on here live/breath Harness Racing anyway so a "break" from that subject is good!

Why not keep the Political thread and just label them Vol.1, Vol.2 or per some time frame.  Just my two cents.  A silly thing to loose any posters over.

That would work but we have a few loons that are not smart enough to stay away from threads they dislike. They would prefer to control everything we post on the harness forum. They offer nothing harness related yet cannot stay on the t-bred side. The biggest one of them all would likely have less then 1 harness post per 100 here compared to his politcal rantings and other nonsense.

I think I personally got to involved arguing with idiots who have different views than mine and that was OK , but the insulting of people they don't know personally like the attack on McCain - Bush - Palin - Reagan -  and the defense of communists like Jones got the better of me and I won't miss the time I wasted talking with anti-americans who only want to change our societies traditions .

I will just focus on what I know best RACING !

Goodbye T bred loon guys .

Why can't there be an Off Topic Category on the main page that anyone could visit if it is a break from racing they are looking for. And also a place these threads could be shifted to if deemed inappropriate for the harness or thoroughbred categories.

I tried keeping them in a separate thread, but it didn't help.  The animosity carried over to racing threads, and there were more reported posts than in the rest of the forums.

Even in this discussion we have posters continuing to snipe at each other based on posts in those now banned threads.

Both parties have members and policies that either benefit or handicap horse racing.  We need support from both parties to get any legislation passed or blocked.  Divisive name calling and nastiness help nobody.

Topics that directly affect racing are on topic, and welcome.  Occasional off-topic threads are OK, there are several currently active.  I'm not about to go through and delete every off-topic post, that's not what this was about.  The political threads got out of control.

Maybe we just need a time-out, like a 5-day suspension or something ...

I don't know all the parties involved but I'd really hate to loose Buffaloboy.  His posts on Harness Racing and other subjects are entertaining and informative.  Are people going to exit over this?

I come off probation and now this; could make a Mare suicidal.

I find most of the BTW posts boring and have enjoyed the political discussions.  I asked Mrs Stark to start a race horse drug training forum to replace the old race horse drugs website and she ignored my request.  The harness racing forum could be improved by adding training forums.

Before the political thread was shut down I would like to have read "closing arguments" from the principle players.  ...maybe 300 words or less to make a final statement, philosophical or otherwise, without the opportunity to read the other guy's statement before writing yours.

I followed the political thread daily, but posted infrequently.  I'm sorry to see it go, but the moderator is right.  It got out of control.

This is exactly why I chose to ignore the insults and personal vile of the few liberals here months ago.  When you have a political opinion, simply post your thoughts, then move on.  This way, there is no personal fighting and interaction.  Very hard to change anyones mind that is over the age of 19, so why waste time trying?

Getting egos tangled up in each other forces the moderator to step in, and everyone loses.

I post on many other forums, and none of them allow political or O/T discussions to go long, or get nasty.

I would like to add my final thoughts.

Politics should be an essential part of every Americans life and one thread of hundreds should be made available. Those not wanting to read can just move along. There are countless boring threads here that are a waste of space, yet the most popular one removed. I was pleased to see so many with an interest in racing make a stand against the loons (which are few). For to many years we have sat silent while letting loons ruin this country. I think it is important to put your foot down and stop them in their tracks, this is something I do regularly. I am 56 years old and I have seen a vast change in our country's morals. We try to trivialize God, and yet every President, even a loon president, end most of their speeches in "God Bless America". We call partial birth abortion "humane", yet it is murder if someone is responsible for purposely ending the life of a 5 month old fetus without the mothers concent. We can not pledge allegiance to the flag, yet we can set it on fire at our liesure. Cigarette companies can not advertise (I quit smoking 5 years ago), yet you see alcohol, Extenz, Vibrant Touch, and Viagra advertisements pounding our airways. We allow our President to criticize our country to the rest of the world when we are by far the best country in the world. Our politicians are allowed to appease our enemy while criticizing our boys, accusing them of murder, for risking their lives to preserve our way of life. I am frankly sick and tired of everyone being politically correct. From time to time there are good threads that I will post to when I see a good racing thread. Most of them are complaints about a dying industry, track take outs, and the price of a hot dog and drink.  In any event, I was pleased to see the number of good Americans who felt the same way I did. I have a renewed faith in our country's survival, and I salute you!  beer

Was it a coincidence that the thread was deleted after a cry from the biggest loon left on this forum ?
Was it a coincidence he had been accused plenty of times by multiple posters of being the forum moderator ?

If by losing the political thread we keep the biggest loon on the forum on the t-bred side perhaps it was a blessing in disguise. He added nothing here except joining in on making fun of the harness posters in the past.

To HV I commend you for capping it a long time ago.Your horse and people capping skills are on the mark. You can pick out a closet moderator anytime.

It wasn't worth going to the trouble of logging in, is why. But, now since you feel it's okay to use your position to post people's private reports in this fashion, and engage them publicly instead of keeping the crap off the forum which is what I was trying to do, let me ask you: What good is it to cancel a thread for being "nothing but fighting" if you're going to continue to let the same exact fighting and name calling go on, just sans the politics?

I don't know if it is funny or pathetic to see a bunch of grown men crying away in this thread like a bunch of little little girls because the school teacher slapped their hands with a ruler. Everyone involved in that thread, with the possible of exception of bettor2, was behaving badly, and we - that's right WE, warden - got exactly what we deserved. Now how about everyone learn a lesson about forum behavior, grow up, and move along. Surely people must actually have some horse racing subjects to discuss.

For those of you who give a fig about it, I entitled the topic as a take-off on the expression used in New York City the day WABC-770AM, the largest radio station stopped playing Top-40 Music and went to talk.

The expression was, "May 10, 1982 - The Day WABC Music Radio Died"

Period.

As you can see it didn't work. He is a constant whiner that has to have it his way. He failed miserably in civil debates and started ranting until the thread was gone. Now he comes back attacking civil posters.

Phil -

By your response that Buffalo Boy quoted, yes, you're right, you would think it should be over, but here we are on page 3 of this new thread, and we've got pretty much everyone playing their same old familiar role and exhibiting their same old familiar bad behavior that got the political thread axed. Pretty much no real thanks to me up until this afternoon. So, go figure on who you really need to tell "it's over", and see if you can get it through those thick skulls.

When losing a debate, the liberal mantra is to blame others, never look at your own weaknesses, and shut em down.

Kind of like what Obama would like to do to Fox News.

Same thing here, post 20 to 30 times a day, then cry when defeated miserably.

The loon who adds nothing to the harness forum continues to cry like the little biatch she is.Someone please tell me when was the last harness related post he made here.He adds nothing here, the little girl does nothing but call people names and  make trouble.

The reason I call him a little whiny biatch of a girl is because he was not man enough to sign his name to a complaint about a post I made.I never thought I would come across anyone more childish then the macdaddi on this forum but we have and he is " msmacterri "

Reported Senator Cornyn seen wiping egg off his face after the Shumer debate on Meet the Press.  What isn't the Fundamentalist Cornyn telling us? Why is the sonofabitch hiding what he knows about executive compensation and the stock market? What does he know about the stock market that he's hiding from working class Republicans?  Why is he opposed to stock compensation for top management at Americas richest corporations?
