Does the Pack have a defense this year? If so, they're the team to beat in the North. We'll see.
I think you guys who've been dogging the Bears' receivers may be right. We already know what Cutler can do with good receivers so we'll see about these guys too.

Bears have won 7 of last 10 meetings with Packers, including 4 wins out of the last 5 games that were played in Green Bay. Green Bay did win last year's meeting at home 37-3 only to get beat in Chicago a month later. Green Bay is a 4 point favorite.

The Packers are switching from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4 defense under new defensive coordinator Dom Capers, one of the best defensive coordinators around. Pack will win.

Bears by four ( 17 - 13 ). The Bear receivers are there. The Cutler/Bennet connection, the Cutler/Olsen team and now watch for the Cutler/Knox or the other kid who's name isn't pronouncible but starts with an "A" will begin to show themselves. The Pack has no one to negate Matt Forte. This kid could well be a Pro Bowler this year. Pack defense is still a work in progress and Capers ain't the answer.

If they have any teasers take the Bears in a route by at least 2 touchdowns. The Bears Linebackers are on a mission ~ head hunting

Bears have been given the Sports Illustrated "kiss of death". SI has them picked to with the NFC North which is probably not out of the question BUT then they pick them to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, losing to the NE Pats by 3.

Sure and Bobby Avellini had a great arm . RTP Not the greatest athlete but one of my favorite Bears. Still have my number 7 Bear jersey. Remember when they destroyed the Namath-led Rams on a Monday night in '77 or '78? Loved the headline in the Sun Times "Avellini in Total Command" Who'd they go to after him? Mike Phipps?

I don't go for that !! He has never been with a super bowl team and was with Pittsburg , Jackonville , Carolina ,Houston , Miami , and was a special assistant for the secondary at New England and I do not know what that means . I don't give him any credit for New Englands success . I don't bet horses that can't get the job done ! Time will tell ! The Packers have a real good offense with a healthy Grant . They have plenty of DOG in them though that will end up making them also rans ! Minnesota & Bears will decide the division in the end and the Packers may help one of them . RTP P. S. I'm never right though !

Last year the Titans met the Steelers in game 15 with the winner becoming the #1 seed in the AFC. Tennesse demolished the Steelers 31-14. In that game Defensive linemen Albert Haynesworth, Kyle Vandenbosch and Vickerson did NOT dress for the Titans. The latter two will start on Thursday.
Only reason the Titans got edged and upset 13-10 by Ravens in playoffs was in effect 5 turnovers all in the red zone getting no points each time(plus Chris Johnson got hurt).
Hard to give 6 points which means Steelers must win by a TD over such a team.

Bears-Packers Preview September 9, 2009 - Associated Press
The quarterback position for the Chicago Bears has been a revolving door of mediocrity for decades.
After pulling off a blockbuster offseason trade for Pro Bowler Jay Cutler, the Bears believe they've found a quarterback that can solidify the position and lead them to a Super Bowl.
Cutler is set to play in his first regular season game for the Bears on Sunday night when they visit the rival Green Bay Packers, who also boast a top young quarterback in Aaron Rodgers.
Chicago has gone through an NFC-high 11 different starting quarterbacks since 2001, and hasn't boasted a true franchise player at the position since Sid Luckman in the 1940s.
After finishing 9-7 to miss the playoffs for a second straight year following their Super Bowl run in 2006, the Bears sent incumbent starter Kyle Orton, two first-round draft picks and a third-rounder to Denver for Cutler in April.
With Cutler now in charge, expectations in Chicago are high.
Last season with the Broncos, Cutler set franchise records with 384 completions, 616 attempts, 4,526 yards and eight games passing for 300 or more yards. By contrast, Orton passed for more than 300 yards just once last season with the Bears.
"He does some plays and does some things out there that I've never seen," said Chicago running back Matt Forte, who set a franchise record for a rookie by rushing for 1,238 yards last season. "I've never had a quarterback like that. I'm just glad he's here."
Cutler, who grew up a Bears fan in Indiana, makes his first career start for Chicago against the franchise's fiercest adversary.
"It's great for the rivalry," Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy said.
The Packers also have high hopes with Rodgers entering his second season as starter.
After serving for three years as Brett Favre's backup, Rodgers started all 16 games last season for Green Bay, which went 6-10.
Rodgers passed for 4,038 yards, 28 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, joining Kurt Warner in 1999 as the only two quarterbacks in NFL history to throw for at least 4,000 yards in the first season they started a game. He threw for 487 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in the two games against the Bears last season.
The Packers defeated Chicago 37-3 at Lambeau Field on Nov. 16, but in the rematch at Soldier Field on Dec. 22, the Bears won 20-17 in overtime.
Ryan Grant, who enters his third season as the Packers' primary running back, rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries in the win, but was limited to 61 yards on 25 attempts in the loss.
While Green Bay hopes Rodgers continues to develop, the Packers also need improvement from their defense in order to be successful.
Green Bay allowed an average of 28.5 points while losing five of its final six games. As a result, McCarthy fired nearly all of his defensive coaching staff and brought in veteran coordinator Dom Capers to install his version of the 3-4.
The Packers return almost all of last year's defensive players, but they'll all be adjusting to different roles -- including cornerbacks Al Harris and Charles Woodson, man-to-man specialists who now will be playing more zone.
The biggest adjustment will be for Aaron Kampman, who will make the transition from 4-3 defensive end to 3-4 outside linebacker. A pass rush specialist who made the Pro Bowl in 2006 and 2007, Kampman now will find himself standing up at the line of scrimmage and sometimes dropping back into pass coverage.
"This position requires you to rush, requires you to play the run hard and also drop into coverage," Kampman said. "I've tried to develop all three of those skills. Every game, I get more experience, find ways to tweak and learn and grow in it."
There won't be much room for error against Chicago, which features one of the league's better tight end tandems in Greg Olsen and Desmond Clark.
Although Cutler has one of the strongest arms in the NFL, his primary targets will likely be Olsen, Clark and Forte, who caught a team-high 63 passes for 477 yards last season. The hope is Cutler will elevate an unproven group of wide receivers led by Devin Hester, who had 51 receptions for a team-high 665 yards in 2008.
A veteran defense led by linebackers Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs also needs to improve for the Bears to be considered a serious playoff contender.
Chicago, which ranked 30th in pass defense in 2008 (241.2 yards per game), will be tested often by Rodgers, especially if cornerback Charles Tillman is unable to go coming off back surgery in July.
"I've never been to the playoffs," Cutler said. "I've never been to the Super Bowl. But it all starts Sunday. There's that first one Sunday, and we'll just go back and regroup. We're looking forward to it. I think we have a great shot at it."

Hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. Pittsburgh is not even as good as Tennessee as was proven last year. But Tennessee just like they did in the Baltimore playoff game killed themselves with one mistake after another. An excellent FG kicker missing an easy FG and then not being to elevate it over the line for a 2nd miss which completely determined the course of the game and the outcome on its own. But add to that Fisher cutting competant punt returner Mark Jones this week and using Finnegan who has not returned punts for several years since college and he proceeds to allow the first 2 Pittsburgh punts to roll 20 yards form the 30 to put Titans in a hole each time and lose 40 yards worth of field position. Then on next punt calls for a fair catch on his own 5 yardline and fumbles it but lucks out and falls on it. Why on earth would you call for a fair catch on your own 5 let alone try to field it? Then he calls for a fair catch again on the 5 for the next punt but calls it too early and refs don't call it so he gets hit. But again why try to catch it on your own 5 but NOT your 30? Then in final 2 minutes, from his own 30 or so the punter hentrich comes through with a 28 yard punt when there was no way the steelers should have with their 1 timeout left had any chance of even later fumbling ball in scoroing territory. Titans d-line like last year completely outclassed pittsburgh's o-line. pittsburgh had trouble all season last year with playoff calibre teams - they are no great team as media is making them out to be.

Look, they were underdogs and as bad as they played they were on the verge of winning the game while they had 4 turnovers to none. They totally shut down Green Bays offence while out rushing and out passing them. This team will do just fine. Once Cutler gets some experience with these receivers the Bears will be a force. I'm willing to bet anyone that the bears win at least 10 games baring a Cutler injury.

One helluva a football game. Don't think GB can be over confident what with only a six point win after four-FOUR Bear turnovers. They'll be on the lakefront later this year and they had better be wearing their "lucky" cheeseheads. Heard that Urlacher has surgery scheduled for his wrist injury. Happening today ??

Brian Urlacher out for the season with wrist injury By Vaughn McClure Tribune Reporter
Brian Urlacher is out for the season after dislocating his right wrist, the linebacker said Monday.
Urlacher injured his wrist in the first quarter of Sunday's 21-15 loss to the Packers. He was scheduled to undergo surgery Monday morning.
The Bears defensive co-captain and team leader entered the season healthy again coming off back and neck injuries. He had three tackles before leaving Sunday's game.
Hunter Hillenmeyer replaced Urlacher in the lineup Sunday. The Bears might have to consider moving Lance Briggs over to middle linebacker to fill Urlacher's void.

Yes, a good, smart & gutsy call. They had several chances to expose the Bears' secondary but didn't cash in & then they put it together on that one play. I though much of the game itself was a microcosm of week #1 around the league. Offenses played poorly in general, defenses were much better prepared. Bears fans should take solace in the fact that despite those INTs they were still very much alive before the last one. Cutler & receivers must get on the same page & Jay just took too many chances. He looked like Favre!

It was the ghosts of Curly Lambeau and Vince Lombardi that did in Urlacker. They were looking down when Urlacker laid that big hit on Rodgers and agreed "We got to protect our quarterback" And so ends the season for one bad bear. It's not nice to piss off the big coaches that look after all good cheeseheads.

You must be one of those guys who thinks only one team gets paid to do their job & that every Bear player should play perfect 100% on every down. Very realistic. Cincy lost on a freak tipped ball. The Bears lost because of 4 ints & a faked(?) punt. Were you one of the guys who had his Cutler jersey turned inside out at halftime? Do you realize how many years the Bengals have been losing? The Chiefs? The Bills, Browns, Raiders, Lions or Niners? The Dolphins haven't been to a Super Bowl in 25 years & haven't won one in 37 years! A few years back the Rams were scoring 40 points every week & now they're getting shutout. The Lions were 0-16 last year! The Browns finally scored an offensive TD at the end of the game, their first since November 17. So go easy on the Bears - they're headed in the right direction with Cutler but it won't happen overnight.

The Packers are switching from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4 defense under new defensive coordinator Dom Capers, one of the best defensive coordinators around.
This is turning out to be quite a joke! lol No wonder Capers can't keep a job!

Don't you love looking back on some of the comments & predictions. How about this gem offered up by a happy New York fan... I hate to see the guy hurt like that but it does make it easier for my Giants to win the Conference now
The guy hurt was Urlacher but BB apparently thought the Bears were a threat.

Whoa Nellie Packers score three times in first two processions. One TD taken away by a bad call.

I am just an old "Hoss" trainer, that has been raced hard and put away wet. As my Friend from Maine(Ora Stratton) says "There are horse trainers, and then there are real "Hoss" trainers.
