Haven't seen much about it on the U.S. news, but the foreign news shows have been running stories on widespread sports scandals and fixing recently.

Huge world-wide soccer match fixing ring exposed:

http://football.thestar.com.my/2013/02/05/investigators-expose-global-soccer-fixing-scam/

Widespread doping, as well as and involvement of organized crime, and fixed matches, in all sorts of Australian sports:

But of course it does not happen in harness racing.  Immune from this type of scandal and chicanery.

Shaving points in college basketball with Shackelford and others, referees going to jail in the nba, nhl organizations associated with Gretzky under investigation for gambling, Pete Rose banned because he bet on games in mlb while coaching, international soccer games match fixing, Michael Phelps loves his wacky tobacco, Lance Armsrong as honest as the day is long, Tonya Harding tried to have Nancy Kerrigans knees popped, I could go on and on. HOWEVER, harness racing is the model!!!! Harness racing is trying to set the standard for hard work, honesty, integrity, discipline, helping others, and so on. Harness racing is the MODEL that is trying to get all sporting events to follow!!!! horse shoe horse shoe horse shoe horse shoe horse shoe trophy trophy trophy trophy trophy

Trying to "brand" a sport that is legitimate is not a bad idea ( especially a sport that has been known for cheating)........all of the examples you included are right on the money.....people cheat.....its human nature......sports people do it....people in relationships do it.....   everyone is looking for a angle or a "edge" to make money.   The cheaters are very good...some eventually do get caught...   and maybe ...just maybe.....  the trainers that some feel are cheating....might be shown the door soon....   but can't blame someone for trying to find a edge by being a champion for harness racing intergrity.....hard to deny ....it seems to be working.....    Cha Ching !!

Don't give "The Great One" a black eye. His wife and Rick Tocchet are the gamblers/bookies. Thank goodness for harness racing. nyah

The "GREAT ONE" cashed in big Arlington million day with Golden Pheasant. He had a nice box seat and ran down to the winner's circle like the happiest owner you ever saw. Golden Pheasant was 6-1 with Gary Stevens aboard. Glorious day!
