Catalano only started Jade's Ace once, it was the Summer of '02. We claimed Jade's Ace from trainer Steve Hobby. She finished 5th that day for $14k at $3.60-1. We ran her back for a dime, she won by 4...and Hobby took her back. Afterwhich Ernesto claimed her back from Hobby (not Catalano) for $18k. Ernesto raced her for $10k (out of claiming jail); she was a distant 3rd, and Joe McKellar haltered her. It was when Ralph Martinez took her from McKellar and campaigned her at Fairmount, that she did all the good (winning 8 races over two seasons) for him.
Catalano is not the only person allowed to claim a horse and win with it. That entitlement isn't exclusive. When somebody puts up their money to claim a horse...it's out of the barn. Best of luck to them. Turn the page. The important thing is to make money with the horse, or minimize your loss, and move on. Please don't stop claiming them. The economy of the game depends on it.
Agree 100% Move on and try and turn some more money over with another horse.
