I've never been to DuQuoin.
This Judges Stand (1960 image) must be massive.

I count 8 or 9 people on the bottom level.
Six on the middle level, with plenty of space.
One or more on top.

Maybe they ruled by committee.  Or maybe they didn't have a camera on the wire so someone had to watch for who crossed first! 

Let's see - 3 judges watching the finish Shocked Shocked Shocked, 3 watching the head on stretch run Huh Huh Huh & 3 to determine if someone was whipping abusively Wink Wink Wink.  That makes 9!

it is a very tough place to judge from, everything is head on, i have judged the spring preview there the last couple of years, and the head on view is very difficult to see what is happening in the stretch. the charter will not even try to chart from the stand it is too head on.
