Todays Double at Hawthorne

Could the charts be right? A Catalano horse wins the first and pays $3. The winner of the second pays $105. And the double pays . . . . . . . . .$16. I hope some of the listers were paying attention to the double will pays and had the $105 winner!

Are these numbers correct?

LOL! That is what it says. Trackman, is that $16.20 correct?

If so, I'm thinking whoever had that double may have taken down almost the whole pool. Ah smells larceny, maybe ...

Anyone have some non-insane-ramble thoughts on the exotic pays in that 2nd race, or the first Pick 3 payout?

Double = 162.40 per Equibase.

They must have corrected it. When I looked at it in the "summary results" it definitely said something like $16.20 or $16.40. Sixteen something.

Yeah, it's been corrected. That's more like it. Still not a lot of value in those Catalano horses.

It's very unusual but not extraordinary. Somebody or a syndicate, if you will, were plenty sure about the winner, that's certain.

Exactas are my favorite bet. I like dutching horses against the favorite and I also bet favorites, sho' nuff.

You really can't realize the value of that big a longshot in the double pools these days.  So many people bet favorites on the front end of a double, that it kills the ticket.  Unfortunately, the double is pretty much dead money in my eyes, these days...

There was one at Maywood (couple months back) where the double paid a $100 with a $150 winner in it.
