Chicago Horsemen Petition for Track in Lincoln Park
Chicago, Ill., Feb. 20.
PLANS for obtaining facilities at Lincoln Park, one of the great public parks of Chicago, for horsemen were formulated this evening when a group of 20 horsemen were entertained at dinner at the University Club by Dr. Anson Cameron. A new tract in the park is now being laid out for various forms of recreation and harness horsemen feel that facilities for them, utterly lacking in Chicago parks, should be provided.
It is hoped to obtain a track for amateur harness racing, a polo field, stables and perhaps Other facilities. The meeting was addressed by C. E. Beveridge, A. T. Cole, E. J. Curtin of the Harness Horse Association, Wayne Dinsmore of the Horse Association of America and M. A. Kern, representing saddle horse groups. A petition to the Lincoln Park Commissioners was signed by all present. Another meeting of those interested in the project will be held at the Midland Club in about two weeks.
