In reading the topics and responses that are posted on BTW, I sometimes am unclear as to the perspective of the opinions expressed.  Just for my own information would you please participate in this poll by choosing the one category that most accurately reflects your involvement in Illinois harness racing.

Remember there is no prize, so please vote just once per person.

Thanks.

Been viewed 61 times, but only 16 have participated in the poll.

There is no charge, and it only helps to identify the overall BTW membership.

I won't sell the poll results!!

Unless I would get a really good offer :-)

Please PM me with offers

What if you qualify in more than one area?

Tannor,

Just pick the ONE category that is the best fit.  Many of us would fit in most areas, and I hope we all fit in as fans.

But looking forward to seeing the results

Thanks Lusty,

Maybe I should have included a category for "past and hopefully future owners"

I am really just trying to understand the overall perspective of the posters.  Many seem to be concerned about the fans and bettors, even to the detriment of the horses.  Others seem critical of drivers.  There does seem to ge an overall concern for establishing some fair rules that apply consistently across the board to help insure a level playing field.

While I don't think a horse should ever be stiffed, I also don't think it is necessar to absolutely gut a horse that draws poorly or has given a good effort despite a tough trip.  From an owner's perspective it is sometimes the better part of valor to live to race another day.

So far the poll seems to be pretty even between fans/bettors and owners...trainers, drivers, breeders are all lagging far behind in numbers - but that is the way you would expect it to shake out.  I will let the poll run through tomorrow and see how the final numbers stack up.

Terry

Excellent point on the NOT gutting your horse from a poor post!

I wonder how many fans and bettors-- if it was there horse would choose to send them from the outside against front speed inside-- instead of duck and get a check and wire the field next week?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuh??

My favorite poster on here is Race Track Phil. To sum it up he is a realist. Phil you have to write a book about all of the things you observed in your years at the track. I would be the first in line to buy your book. Keep the posts coming and please share some of your past experiences with us.

Thanks to everyone that has participated in the poll so far.  I will let it run through today and close it off to make room for new topics.

The poll has been viewed nearly 500 times and we still have only 50 odd responses.  To make the poll as useful as possible I would encourage the BTW readers to take 15 seconds and click on the category that best matches  their involvement in our sport.

Thanks again.

Clear all ready the major part of readership is fans and owners probably least knolwedgable participants in racing. Why its valuable and important for people like you and Donna Lee and Thomas Graham who know real facts to post here and clear up b.s. and mis information some others post. Appreciate it.
