Are you playing in the main event Rpb? I prefer the $1500-2000 dollar buy in smaller events myself. Never played in the main event myself.

Good job!!! When it gets down to like 10 or so, don't tell us who is in, because I want to watch it in November!
Oh, wait. They are doing something different this year, aren't they? The final table is coming back in November to do it live?

Isnt that crazy making the final table wait until November. Are they going to televise the final table live with whole card cams or without? It would seem to me that it would be kind of hard to do.

I would think putting it on a delay(2 minute or so) would do it....IMO

You wouldn't want to watch it live -- it's boring as hell. Many times, the whole table folds to the big blind, or the small calls and the big checks, and then they check it down with each having garbage. You don't see those hands on edited poker shows, because they are a big yawn. The idea here is that the viewer won't already know for months and months who won, who finished 2nd, etc., before watching the tape of the final table. If you can stay away from the WSOP web site for 24-48 hours after the final table concludes, you can watch it play out (minus the "dead" hands) with the drama of not knowing who is going to win intact.

Think about this from the player's point of view -- with today's technology, would you want your cards shown to the world "live"...only to have someone with the technology to have an earpiece or something...or signals from someone in the audience? The only way to show it live and guarantee the integrity of the game is to not have the hole card cam...which I agree with you, makes it pointless to even bother showing live.

Round 19 was the last of the day for Friday. Blinds 5000 / 10000 Ante 1000.
Leader has 3.1 million chips. Complete no-name, at least I never heard of him.
Many pro names on the 1 million and up list.
Hellmuth at 570K and Matusow at 550K...Craig Stein slightly ahead of both at 675K.

Jim McManus is still there. He's turned into quite the poker player.
Alan Cunningham is the one to watch, in my book.
This is the best name I have seen on the list: Graddus Terwiss Cha Van
Wow. Maybe they got it backwards and it's supposed to be Charles Van Graddus Terwiss.

Play suspended last night while still in level 24, down to 79 players.
Blinds are 15K-30K, antes 4K.
Leader 5.8M chips. Twelve players at 3M or more.
Mouth: 1.169M
Brat: 721K, starts Day 6 with a one-orbit penalty for his blowup at the end of round 5 -- his pre-flop reraise with A K off got called by 4d 10d, then the caller paired the 10's and bet huge after Brat checked.
Brat showed his discard, Mouth told the caller, "Show the bluff", called showed his diamonds and Phil went berserk as the crowd roared with laughter.
Good. I hope he's on tilt today, the arrogant prick.
P.S. Craig Stein hanging in at 440K, but is in terrible shape and in danger of getting chewed up by antes and blinds -- my guess is he needs to pick a hand right away and push when play starts up today. I won't second guess him for a minute, though -- if he busts out next, he gets a nifty $77,200. Considering who he's up against, that's a huge accomplishment.

Craig Stein Eliminated in 39th Place ($154,400) Andrew Brokos raisedto 135,000, Darus Suharto called on the button, and Craig Stein moved all in for 580,000 from the big blind. Brokos folded and Suhato called. Stein AJ Suhato QQ Suhato flopped top set when it came down Q 10 2 , but Stein still had hope with a flush draw. The turn, though was the 6, the river was the 2 and Stein's Main Event came to a close. He'll leave us in 39th place, collecting $154,400.

Why would you want the hole card cam? I would think any real poker player would want to try to make his own read......The hole card cam sucks and should only be used to show the hands after the pot is won......Poker After Dark shows every hand.....thats why I like it......The problem with watching poker on TV is that when there are 10 minutes left to go in the show anyone with a brain knows who won and all the drama is gone.....The WSOP live on PPV is the only way to go....But they need about a 5 minute delay...a 15 minute delay if Sam Farha would happen to make the final table.....

I agree with you a little bit, but the public DEFINITELY does NOT. Poker on TV didn't go anywhere until they started with the hole cam. And, actually, anybody who wants to figure out what the other players have should probably just go play on PokerStars or some other site.

I think you answered your own question there. Poker players want it because it put millions of dollars into their pockets. People watching like it because you can see what the players are thinking. Plus, a lot of times, it's like Alfred Hitchcock's "bomb under the chair" - the audience knows it's there, but nobody in the room does. And the tension mounts, after each card is turned over. You could make the same argument for Doyle Brunson's SuperSystem. It turned a lot of superstar players into average players, too.

Poker after dark is probably the best poker on tv for the simple reason tha they do show every hand but I agree that when there is 5 minutes left in the show, you know who is going win the critical "all in" hand. Showing it live on tv with a short delay would make things alot more interesting. I dont like the idea of waiting till November though.
How much interest is the casino making on the 64 million dollars in the prize pool over the next 5 months???

I want to thank you for keeping us all updated on your quest to win the big one ! I bet you had a hell of a goodtime seeing some of those so called great players bite the dust . I hope next year you go further ! How about to the final table ! Its funny how poker got so big in a short time , I guess with good promoters and TV coverage anything is possible . I haven't played poker in years , but in the poker games I played in guys like that Matusow and Helmuth would get a severe beating for insulting other players like they do on TV ! I think its all for show , cause nobody can be that dumb to insult players like they do when money is involved .
Great job Kirby . RTP
