Sounds like Recapturetheglory will also shy from the Preakness, if Louie's travel itinerary is an indicator.

"Roussel told Pimlico officials a final decision could be made tomorrow, based on how many horses will be in the field. But he was driving toward New Orleans and not Baltimore in the afternoon."

Scratch that, they are still thinking about it:

As of Tuesday afternoon there were seven confirmed starters for Maryland’s signature event: Big Brown; Behindatthebar; Giant Moon; Kentucky Bear; Stevil; Tres Borrachos and Yankee Bravo along with four other potential runners.

http://www.preakness.com/NewsEvents/FeatureStories/Details/Baltimore050608p.htm

Co-owner Ronnie Lamarque said from New Orleans on Tuesday afternoon that he and trainer and co-owner Louie Roussel were “still thinking about the Preakness.”

Lamarque’s main concern is the potential size of the field and had Pimlico stakes coordinator Coleman Blind fax him past performances of all the contenders.

------------------------------------------

Hmm, the article also noted Dutrow was fighting a "heavy cough".  You don't suppose he celebrated his win Bob Marley style?

Glory will get smoked by 10 lengths in the Preakness. He doesn't belong.

He may not belong in against BB but who does ? The Preakness is 2 stakes races within I race.A walkover for BB and a 200K stake for the rest of the filed of which I think Glory does belong.

I haven't taken a peak at anything related to the Preakness, but I just wanted to remind everyone that an angle that has paid off nicely in a few prior runnings is to use the token local horse underneath --sometimes, it's even a Maryland-bred, but that's not strictly necessary.

Seems like every year, some sharp horse that has never run outside of Maryland runs in the Preakness and is dismissed at long odds.

Keep your eyes open.

If he's in he will finish many lengths in front of the coward clunker Denis of Cork.

I hadn't noticed any good ones this year. Usually they're at least a blip on the radar.

He fits in any 3 y.o. race at 1 1/8th, tired down the lane at Churchill, now he is shortening up.  They can give him a nice long rest after this one.

Anything to take some spotlight off of the filly going down will be good for the pre-race telecast, even bad singing.  BB will go off at unbettable odds and hopefully coast to the wire.

A Few Things About Denis Of Cork..
I really did not like the way the owner over rode the trainer on The Il Derby..
I dismissed Cork all together in the Derby.
That being said Mr Clockerterry....I would LOVE to own the coward..
Would you?

Calling a horse a coward is dumb - blame the connections, not the horse!

Looks like recapturetheglory is going in the Preakness

From bloodhorse.com

Recapturetheglory, fifth in the May 3 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), will be the second Preakness starter to arrive in Baltimore when he leaves Churchill Downs May 11. On May 8, Recapturetheglory jogged a mile and galloped a mile over the muddy Churchill Downs surface.

Racecar Rhapsody will also be in the Preakness.

Ok you all know who I'm betting to win, so I won't even type it. But IF he wasn't in the race..I really like "Harlem Rocker". Which is a unusually choice for me since he's a Pletcher horse.

What a relief he's not going to be in the Preakness. I can use my head and bet for the right horse now. Which I still think is going to be "Harlem Rocker". All though as it gets closer to the day of the race, I'll probably need some convincing to bet on a Pletcher horse. I have nothing against the guy personally, I don't know him, I sure he's wonderful. But I always feel like he's jinxed when he has more than one horse in a race. Its like they cancel each other out or something.

In Harlem Rocker's last race, it was a 4-horse field, and 2 of those horses were trained by Pletcher. Personally, if I were in their shoes, I would skip Big Brown now, try to win the Canadian Triple Crown, and meet up with him later in the year.

Haha! This came from the DRF yesterday..

.... The Preakness Section is up and running on DRF.com. Get all the latest news, analysis, video, statistics, even contender profiles (ok, so Big Brown scared away a good amount of contenders, but we’ve got profiles of the willing combatants here).

I don't care if it was a gallop by himself! He got a 106 BSF and won EASY in hand! The horse he ran down is an accomplished sprinter who also has Beyer'd in the triple digits! J BE K. Assmussen is the trainer. Today, the horse had a great work and who gives a flying *** about the Canadian Triple Crown?Huh Didn't a horse win it a few years ago? I forgot the horses name! WHO CARES!

Calm down Steve. Grin He's out, and headed for the Queen's Plate.
