What an over lay on S.Report 14-1?
Not every day you come home on the lead in 26.0 and lose.
Good tightner for the 3 levy boys....Feelgood, S.Report and Maltese.

I think on the half S.Report is going to be tough like last yr in the levy.
Asher keeps him sharp. He goes a strong race every week.

As for the LBJ winner, Presidential, and Capri winner - he knows the winners circle.
Perect trip and nails the report.

Defending levy champ - Maltese has history against him.  No horse has won the levy final more then once.

Off 3 weeks, a half in front of him in 56.3 and he comes a quarter in 25.3 to be beaten 1 1/2 lengths? If that is getting your ass handed to you? I'll bet he races more like he was next time.

Mercedes- Maltese is fine. You can't close from where he was off those fractions.  Besides with that post and 3 weeks off, sure this was just a tightner.

LMFAO. it was prety obvious to anyone that when the 1/2 was 56 and change and the 3/4 was 125 and change, it was a 2 horse race. Anyone saying that Manhardt is nothing has no idea about racing .Either Mr. Feelgood or Special Report was going to win turning for home. And IMO, With those fractions, on a big track, Special report will not beat these types ever if he could not win tonight

As I said earlier, I am not going to take anything away from any of the horses but Larry Stalbaum was allowed to get Special Report from post #9 to the 1/4 pole with a little more then a length lead in just 27.0. Then you had Stalbaum pull a 29.3 2nd 1/4 as part of a 58.0 middle half mile.

Personally, I thought the track was somewhat slow, especially on the back side but how do you let Stalbaum pull those early two fractions and just let him sit there? Going from post #9 to the lead in 27.0 used to mean an automatic retake or a quarter move.

He would've had to pace a final half in 53.3, into a 28 second third quarter, parked in the turn, to win.  At minimum.

There were two horses all night to go that number, and after that (not counting the open), the fastest final half was 55.1.

I don't care what class you're in, or who you're racing, you are not going to be 10-13 lengths faster than the average final half at the Big M on a Saturday.

This race tells you nothing, IMO, simply because of the 1:25 3Q.  You aren't making up three lengths in the open off that 3Qs unless you are head and shoulders better -- which he isn't.  Shame on the public for making him 3/5!

As an aside, Free De Vie DID come home in 122 F3Q/53.3 FH -- big, big numbers...but, he needs a ground saving trip to do it.

Best,
EW
